Default mechanic/shop

Can anyone recommend a shop in the Port Charolette, Fl area familiar with LT5s?
I haven't had any luck so far.
Thanks

What do you need done?

Many things can be done by any mechanic and it might be a good idea to get ideas first.

Aaron Scott isn't that far.

I would post up on this forum first and get a diagnosis:

How long have you had the car? Have you done any work on it recently?

The last thing done was a replacement of the master cylinder about a year ago.

I've had the car for 4 years - no problems until now.

The car seemed to have a vibration which I thought was an alignment problem.

I drove the car to work last Friday - a little vibration, but otherwise OK.
the vibration seemed only to be noticable above 55 mph. In town, no problem.

Any way I got off the I-75 and all at once it seemed like I had dead miss. I don't know if that's what they still call it - been a long time since I twisted any wrenches.

I made it home - smelled a little like rubber and sounded like it had a
knock about halfway down the passenger's side head.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for responding.

what gear are you in and what is the tach reading?? when it starts to shake.

Ill bet you have a dead cylinder like a injector is not firing.

I agree with Johnny, especially if your car is a 90-92 and still has the original injectors. Does the miss/knock become worse as the car warms up to full operating temp?

You can check injector coil resistance easily yourself, without removing the plenum - check out the procedure Marc Haibeck describes in this article: http://www.zr1specialist.com/HAT%20W...in%20Place.pdf

I only noticed the miss/knock when I was about 2 miles from home - it was the first time it happened. Just the vibration previous to that.
I was accelerating after leaving the exit ramp when the miss started.

It is a '92 with the original injectors. About 36500 mi.

Would it be prudent to replace all the injectors?

Thanks

Yes, definetly. Might want to test the coil packs, spark plugs and spark plug wires.

you can check to see if it's the coils by pulling the plug wires and seeing if it runs the same or worse. if it's the same then you're going to have to pull the plenum and ohm the injectors. anything under 12.5 ohms should be replaced. and if you're already there and need some replaced, just do them all. the problem with the dual mass fly wheel is that it absorbs the smaller vibrations so you don't notice it till you have a big miss
