C6 ZR1 Wheels on C4 ZR1
Hi,
I have a crazy question:
do you think it is possible do drive the OEM C6 ZR1 Rims on a C4 ZR1.
Dimensions: front 19x10J ET40 rear 20x12J ET59
original tire size of the C6 ZR1 is front 285 30 19 and rear 335 25 20
On a C4 I guess it needs to be a different tire size.
....and if ZR1's wont work, do you think the OEM C6 Z06 wheels will fit?
Thanks for your help in advance.

You have to keep in mind the reason they look so good on the C6 is because it was designed into the styling to have 20" rims. That is to say the wheel openings are larger. The C4 came with 17's. Going plus 1 looks good. I've seen plus 2 in the back and plus 1 in the front and that looks good. But going plus 3 I just don't think would look right. Even if it was lowered the car would just be too high in the air. Of course, that is just my opinion.

I considered the ZR1 wheels but thought them too complex. I think 20s in back a bit much also. IMO, the Z06 wheels are just right for the ZR-1. They provide a wider selection for tires and then there is the added benefit of fitting Z06 brakes.

Not quite "just bolt up", but pretty straight forward w adapter. And yeah it stops nicely. very little pedal pressure needed. It has so much reserve to stop quickly. I never need to think about brakes. I just stop when and where I want to. Usually it stops sooner than I was used to.

First, the wheels look great on your car!!!
Very nice!
Now a question or request if you would.
I agree with your thoughts on the size, although it is indeed personal preference, and I like that it opens up the brake options as well!
Can you provide specifics on the wheels?
18 and 19 I know, but what about years and offset?
Are those sizes only on the ZO6 or does the Grand sport share the sizes?
Were any adaptors or spacers required, and lastly what size tires are you running?
Sorry for all of the questions, but in case I cannot find a set of stock takeoffs, I just might consider new from one of the wheel vendors, and I want to make sure I look at only ones that would work.
Your setup obviously works well on all counts, thus the questions.
Thanks in advance for your time, and damn, that car does look good!

Marty,
My wheels are OEM Z06 split spoke Speedlines. Bought them on eBay.
40mm front/ 59 mm rear. The rears require a spacer. I used an
18mm hub and wheel centric spacer. Also replaced the stock wheel studs with GM race studs. These are longer and also stronger.
The front does not use a spacer. What really makes the wheel work up front is the Z06 rotor. It's flat faced and although the Z06 wheel is a 40mm offset, the wheel sits in the wheel well nearly flush with the body. How far the tire is past the fender really depends on the tire.
I am using Nitto Invos, which seem to be a favorite of the 06 crowd. They're sticky, good in the wet and ride pretty comfortably. Are they 11/10ths sport tire, NO, but I really don't track the car.
The tires are 275/35/18 fronts and 325/30/19 which are the stock Z06 sizes.
Frankly, if you visit the C6 parts for sale section here, CL or eFlay, you should be able to find a nice set. I think the split spoke is more available than the GS style wheel. I would consider the Gumby or Spider wheels as well but the split spoke has a Ferrari look to them IMO.

Domonic,
Thanks for your response!
That info will save me some potential mistakes!
I currently am running the longer studs and concentric spacers in the rear with the Dymags as done by Rippie.
My spacers are about 1/2 to -3/4 inch and NCRS of course did not see the longer studs as the stock wheels, lugnuts and covers barely covered all.
Your plate is great!
I love your wheels, but keep thinking high polish or chrome for me, so I'll check the specs on grand sport wheels or check the vendors with your specs.
Might still end up with Torque Thrust II's or similar polished as that is another look I favor.
The Dymag Gen II's seem to be my only perennial favorite, but yours look really, really good on ROZA NRO.

Marty,
I'm not much on chrome but that also depends in color of car.
It was a decision of polished or silver. I thought the silver
POPPED! against the Black Rose color. On my Medium Gray 84,
I had the GS black gloss wheels w machined lip. Another look I like.

Had a set of C6 ZO6 wheel's ready to go on the car. Then Sandy came and some one robbed them (we were robbed twice) , then the car...

The OEM Z06 WHEEL IS A 40mm offset upfront. The C4 is 57? But w the stock Z06 rotor, the wheels fit nearly stock. They also are nearly flush when using the C5 rotors and calipers. So no spacer is required. Only in rear where I use an 18mm wheel/hub centric spacer.

Hi Dominic...not to hijack this thread, but I really like your exhaust. What are you running?
And you are right, the silver wheels really contrast well against the car, really makes them pop!

However, the one I have now uses an XPipe, no resonator, DynoMax Ultraflo muffs w Z06 tips
touch that empty box. It's a link to to a vid of my current exhaust. Why the image doesn't show, I don't know.
