many "stigmas" tend to hold the zr1 back
1. hard to work on , no one can fix it
2. can't find parts
3. expensive to mod (well that one's true!!)
4. big $ relative to performance bump compared to base car
5. doesn't look enough different from base car
6. folks don't know what the hell it is (you'd be surprised)
Now that the modern Zs are upping the performance bar, more attention is being paid to the older c4 ZR-1 but the performance gap is a big one so the value will stay soft.
Not something to sweat if you are like me and wouldn't part with the Z unless it's pried from my cold dead hand on the shifter and my grip is like a vice
I have cars way faster than my Z (which is no slouch) but the LSV is what gets the nod for pure driving enjoyment. JL did the car proud and the song the LT5 sings up top humbles many more exotic cars in both the sweet sound and performance
and the throttle response is razor sharp without the secondaries and the pull down the mine shaft a sheer joy. I'll likely sell my other faster cars someday. The LSV, likely not.

Drifting
Since WantaKoth revived this slightly older thread, I wanted to echo Sleazy Rider's comment. I am very glad that I grew up in that same era, one of not only horsepower but an era in which we worked on our cars and in the process learned a huge amount about how things work and how to fix them, two skills that have helped me along all my life. Very important education. Like Sleazy Rider, my first car out of college was a used '68 Hemi roadrunner and I have never looked back. While I have bought and sold lots of cars, probably about 50 or so, including English, German, Italian and others, I always look for the highest performance, special car when I am getting one for myself. That's why since 1994 I have owned two ZR-1s, one with Marc's 510 package, and now own a C7 Z06.--Bob

Racer
Probably my favorite C4 that I can recall anywhere! It's why when my base C4 popped up for sale near me, I had to have it! Awesome ZR1 man! My Admiral Blue gem🤟

uploading the many pics from work I’ve done and changes etc over the past year. I’ll finally be updating this thread shortly ! Still lots of stuff to do (it never ends =) ) I need to search back up and see where I left off and I’ll start continuing from there. I was really hoping to get it out more and capture some videos and pictures before winter but just had too much going on for my own comfort level to be out doing those. Ran into a few snags I’ll post about like stripping an oil galley plug that seemed determined to drip right onto my wrapped headers (eek!) the roof brace has come along. I got it installed and all the trim back on and happy to say that it works just as I had hoped and looks great and I can pop my roof on and off. I will be posting details shortly but last thing is I consider this a ‘prototype’ it’s been through 3 fabricators and many revisions and happy to say if I can reproduce these or at least start with a next version for my 93 it will look and mount differently. The original fabricator didn’t not have the ability to bend tubing so aesthetic wise this one isn’t exactly how I envisioned it.
will post more shortly !!
