Aren't SBC, LSx, and LT5s on the same bore spacing? The distance between cylinders gets pretty thin for the head gasket to seal between bores past 4.125 which is a reason why we don't see it very often.

If I had a 3.85 stroker crank and needed to sleeve a block, I'd be tempted to go 414 with the 4.125 bore given the price of LT5 cranks and you are likely looking at custom pistons for any big inch LT5.

RK, get ahold of Nelson Racing Engines in Chatsworth, see if he is still making his billet heads. He did a large discplacement billet block yrs ago & gave it the supporting parts to breathe. Not cheap but-
Think his was capable of 500ci or just under its been awhile since I got over there.

If you can use your Z as a daily do it...it sure was designed for it, I mean its durable as hell.
Guy I sold mine to sold it with 180k HARD miles on it....emissions readings were still as new! Even after him driving it most the summer wiht a stuck thermostat baking it
Amazing what they will take. It was his one and only DD, I drove the hell out of it, member and orig owner prior to myself. Dont ever be afraid of wearing one of these out they will hold together.

I realize this is an old thread, but I never commented on it, so I've gotta go with Frank, Dom. I used my ZR-1s as daily drivers when the sun was out (and even in some rain) for a total of about 80,000 miles. Never had a problem; always had a blast. ---Bob

Funny you brought this thread to light right now Bob. I enjoyed driving my car today and was thinking on how lucky I am to own one of these ZR1's. Car still runs HARD !!
