It was the fastest production corvette at the time with the most horsepower at the time also in a production corvette. A true world class car.
With this in mind in production in the late 80s the project was nicknamed King of the Hill by GM. It stuck and was even advertised as such. GC

KOH was the Project name for the car at the inception. The term ZR-1 was not even thought of at the time.

The 14104601 is a GM production number that remained a valid GM service number until '92.

Dave McLellan originated the expression as his desire of what the Corvette should be. He used it in press discussion as far back as the introduction of the C4. See the March 1983 Car and Driver.
