Default 84-86 steering wheel on ZR-1?

Anybody know is the earlier steering wheel will fit on the later steering column?

Thanks.

Will it fit? yes..

I went beyond just installing the Earlier wheel on my 1990.. I swapped the upper section of a 1987 to my 1990 mounted housing, this gave me both the earlier style if chose (Using a Momo) and also gave me the telescopic feature as well.

Not quite sure I understand, as I have zero mechanical skills and would have a friend do this. So, this gives you both tilt and telescoping? My contribution will be finding a 1987 "upper section" on eBay... Can you give me any more guidance on what to look for? Part names? Really appreciate the help.

Gordon.. I bought a complete column from an 87.. 86-89 should work. I also bought a 1990 column (not needed) as I wanted to work on the column as time allowed. then I merged them together to get what I wanted..

the simple answer is you can swap to the 89-older wheel, but there may be a gap on the housing the steering wheel outer plastic.. I had the early wheel in an 89 I put a 1991 dash in, this time I wanted something different

I really like this wheel give the car a completely different feel

Thanks much, Jeff. Got it and know what I need. I have Momo's or Nardi's in my other cars and a few extras lying around. Very nice wheel you chose, btw. (I have no concerns whatsoever about the airbag. They weigh a lot and add no safety value for me anyway...)
