Thank god you removed the ground effects.......I don't know why anyone would choose to put those ground effects on......To me, they just never never fit the C4 or C3......

Only spent a few hours on the car today....
Hit the seats again with Leatherique and wow, they are soaking it up!
Can't wait to take the dirt out!
Also removed the fuel pump and changed out the fuel pumps
PB blasted the outside and it cleaned up really nice!
EASY access with the rear bumper off
More to come next week

Any tips on how to do it?
Are you going to do a Top End Restoration of the LT5?
Maybe block TB Coolant
Maybe restore the Starter/Alternator?
Any vacuum leaks?
Any oil pan leaks?
Great thread David.......

This is a "new" rear bumper and moldings. The original is still attached to the Greenwood body kit and not removed.
Top end restoration? Yes sir!!! If the paint is complete, top end restoration starts next week.
No vacuum or oil pan leaks. Lucky!!!
Tb coolant bypass? Yes please!!!

Blocking TB Coolant, Fluidyne Radiator and Thermostats
The most difficult part to TB Coolant Blocking is the removal of the two Injector Housing Coolant Pipes. Those 4 bolts in each pipe may be impossible to remove without heat. Just take a torch and heat each manifold along the whole length of the bolt a bit before removing the 6mm x 50mm torx T-30 bolts (I replace with SS Allen Head bolts).
Marc Haibeck has found that the throttle body has no problem with ice when the ambient temperature is at 20 degrees and the humidity is 90%. I have calculated that the coolant flow Dynamics assure ALL air is washed from the Top End of the engine at higher engine rpms (only need the air washed out once) even with TB Coolant Blocked .

David,
Nice car.
Great start!
Confident that you will have it stellar in short order.
Way to go pal!
We see more and more ZR-1's being restored, even though relatively speaking, not like nut and bolt at this point, but more and more, being rescued and renewed.
That historically is what happens at the earliest stage of "restoration candidacy".
While right now it is die-hard ZR-1 folk, like David, but sooner or later the ranks will begin to fill with "Corvette" nuts who heretofore had little if any earlier interest in ZR-1's.
That will be a good thing!
Drive them; maintain them; restore them!!!
Way to go David!

Keep in mind that if taking the outside door trim off for paint its held on with 7? 10MM studs opposed to 2 10MM studs and 5? snaps like the later design, taking only the 2 end nuts off and then trying to get it to pop off like the later 91s will only crack the molding and destroy it,ask me how I know. This design was only used on 91s up to at least #634 and not sure when it changed to the regular design. To get the molding off on a car with the early molding involves taking the door completely apart, that's why my car now has the later 2 studs, snap molding. If anybody has an early driver door molding with the 7 studs I'm looking for one for my stash to match the one I raped getting it off years ago.
