Default Broken bolt in ALTERNATOR housing........

What's the easiest way to get this small broken bolt out of the ALT housing without making a mess out of it? I would really like to save this as it came with my car as an extra and I believe it was new,not a rebuilt piece. My car had 6000 miles when I got it,this went out at 8000 miles so it still pretty much looks new. There is a process that uses electrical current to dissolve the broken piece but can't find any info on it now. And is it possible to buy new ALT housings if this thing is toast?

Is this the "terminal" or is it one of the assembly bolts?

Do you have a pic of it?

Long thin assembly bolt. Is it possible to buy a new housing section? I'm going to get the ALT out and start working on it. I'd love to post a picture but PHOTO BUCKET sucks *** and me being the moron that I am can't figure out how to post pictures any other way. I'm going to look into the app for this site.

The extractor is so thin I'm afraid it will break once it starts to flex.

Weld onto the end of the broken off bolt. The welding won't adhere to the aluminum. Weld up a good "pile" onto the end of the bolt, then weld a nut onto your pile...then back the bolt right out.

The "thru-bolt" I'd think you would attempt the removal from the housing from the "front" of the alternator. You just let it soak and the use a drill bit which when used from the "front" would actually be attempting to "loosen". I thought that most CS144 alternators actually had maybe a "square" drive on the end of them that you could maybe grip and twist to loosen first. I wouldn't think the "thru-bolt" that difficult a deal to remove.

There used to be a marine electrical rebuilder in San Diego that you could get your alternators and starters rebuilt at- I would see if you can find a place like that there to see if they could handle that and maybe have the replacement fasteners etc.

All the automotive parts chains send their core exchanges somewhere- see if you can find a rebuilder locally.

I was able to get this out with a sharp center and walking it out little at a time. Thanks to all for the tips. Now,where can I get the correct long bolts?

GM# 1989690 would get you the correct bolt OR you just JY for a scrap CS144 alternator. I'd think they're possibly even still available from GM or an ACD jobber. That's where I'd look before going to eBay! Use Amazon for an image!!!
