Default 87 ZR-1 Prototype

Hello everybody, I am a new member to this forum and a first time Corvette owner I just need a little bit of help now... It is an 1987 Corvette. The car says ZR-1 on it and after doing some research I believe that this is a Prototype ZR-1. However, I want a more experienced person to tell me how to make sure that this car is in fact what I think it is. How can I tell if it is a real Prototype? I am also curious to know how many of these Prototypes they made, how much are they worth? I have seen someone post about a great looking 89 prototype sell at auction for close to $200,000. Anyways, any advice on how to check for authenticity and any other information would be much appreciated!

Most likely a previous owner stuck a ZR-1 emblem on it. The obvious way to ascertain if it's a prototype is to look at the engine. Does it look anything remotely like the pic in this ad?
