Have a 91' ZR-1 with the vke1000 system. It works great but the plastic cases for the remotes are cracking. How are new remotes programmed to this system? I read the install manual and it didn't have anything on replacing the remotes. Thanks.

you replace the system, as i don't believe there is a way to replace just the remotes

or buy another complete system and gut the shells and swap them over to the old internals. Normally they break from dropping the keys along with the fob.

Thanks, if I do replace everything it should be plug n play with the existing harnesses, or like you said just replace the remote cases. Thanks.

There are some kits that are VERY close to the VKE1000 unit. If you find a VKE1000 you can plug and play swap.

I have a Directed Electronic Valet unit (I forget the model #) but it was 99% the same as the VKE1000 but much cheaper
