That wont work in NYC anymore they track if the car is due for inspection now and will suspend either the registration of the car or the owners drivers Lic

Glad I'm done with California for reasons like this. Heck in FL they don't even check for safety stuff though it is a good way to get pulled over. :-)

Actually, CA hasn't lowered the limits on the emission gases since 2011...but they did lower it a lot at that time putting the hurt on a lot of cars.

They better be careful because if everybody buys new 40 mpg cars or EV's, the state will go broke when the gas tax money dries up...which is why they recently raised it anyhow.

I’m surprised the state hasn’t been sued over this. How are these older cars supposed to meet emissions requirements they were never designed for? Question becomes who has the interest and the money to bring such a suit?

The 25 year old rule stopped in 1976. Only vehicles 1975 and older do not require smog checks

Just bought in AZ.

Get out of CA as fast as you can. It’s only getting worse and on so many levels. You are correct about Reno. The regulations are not as strict as CA and worst case I can get a classic car plate that requires no smog.

I am. Tis so bad even the lying thieves in SAC are noticing! Home prices all over the west and even much of the east are soaring due to the exodus, atop the influx from 'outside'.

I swear that I'll not return to ride Moonbeams choo-choo train. LMFAO!!!

Wasn't aware of the classic designation, thanks.
