Are you saying the starter will not turn over?

If that is the case........

Recondition the starter Solenoid points

Starter, Starter Relay, Wiring Harness, Battery, and Plugs Tricks

Reconditioning the Starter Solenoid is a must in all my Top End Restorations as well as installing the Starter Relay

If runs for awhile means "after a cold start, runs for 5~10 minutes & dies", then it's probably failure of the primary fuel pump.

ZR-1 has 2 fuel pumps, Primary & Secondary. Both pumps run on cold start until coolant temp reaches 167deg F or thereabouts (as best I can recall at the moment). Then the Secondary pump shuts down & Primary Pump supplies fuel until Secondary Port Throttle is activated under Full power mode.

With a bad primary Pump, once engine temps cool down, engine will start again but shuts down when engine coolant warms up.

There is a fuel pump test procedure in at least a dozen places here on the forum. Do a search to view.

Thank you!! But it doesn’t just die on me, if i leave it on it stays on, but once i turn it off myself and go to start it up again it won’t crank until hours later

I will add this

Next time park ZR-1 on a flat surface and you can easily have someone sit in drivers seat with ignition on and in second gear with clutch depressed. You push the Z a bit (easy on flat surface) and the "someone" pops the clutch and you are started

Reconditioning the Starter Solenoid is a must in all my Top End Restorations as well as installing the Starter Relay

Make sure the "someone" is a friend because when the ZR-1 is started, the "someone" may want to take a test drive

Similar to what happened to me last year with my starter. Same symptoms. I had a small oil leak under the plenum and it found its way to my starter. The mechanic explained to me that when cold the starter is dry until warmed up.

Had to replace the starter. Not an easy job by any means. But what's easy about our ZR1!

Depends........Ten minutes for me (TB coolant blocked at injector housing) Everything is pretty easy about the ZR-1 especially changing oil filter if you let LT5 sit over night

Twice in the last 10 years I`ve fix my starter problem by polishing the contacts in the starter solenoid.
