Default Opinion please

Years ago I got a set of mirror fairings for my car but hated the way they looked so I designed my own. The set I have are the patterns or prototype. After I got these made I’m planning on making a few sets. Would anybody be interested in a set? These are so far removed from the OEM parts these are in no way a copy from the original.

Jeff,

Looks great. Very clean design.

The expensive part is making the molds then having a large enough order to support the cost of the molds and initial order itself while keeping unit cost down. Have you approached some of the Corvette parts suppliers? Try the smaller guys first. Most already offer a deflector. Be prepared to show why yours is better, cheaper or more profitable, preferably all of those things.

It’s that old adage “ it takes money to make money”.

I like how they look but am unsure if you would be able to recoup your investment by having them produced, a better option would be to look into a high quality 3-D printer to produce them.

Not sure yet but I wil make these once I figure out how. One estimate to have these scanned for 3D printing is maybe $200 and once I have the scanned program having them printed shouldn’t cost too much but not sure. A few years ago my car was in one of the Corvette magazines and I stuck one on the car just for the picture. I’ll try and find the picture.

What are the specific differences? those look the same to me, but there are also no pictures to reference the original design either

One thing about those 3D printers I don't like is that layering effect of sandwiched material that looks like its unfinished. A lot of sanding and prep work is then required to remove those lines. Because of this moldings maybe the WTG. However that also may be because a "Cheap 3D printer" is used vs. a more expensive and quality unit? Something to consider as well Jeff
