Default White Z hit the reserve and is going cheap!!!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1991-Chevro...19.m1438.l2649

This low mileage Z is going to sell this time around. Blackbelt went and took a look at it and test drove it the other day as a favor of which I am greatly appreciative!!!! Not sure if I want to "Pull the trigger" as I have a ton of other car projects in the works at this time.

He stated the paint has a few minor flaws, interior is near perfect, radio has a noise issue, antenna needs attention, and the passenger side CAT was replaced and a hack job of welding was done to get it in place. This with the Cam Timing sensor may have been the smog issue. Also, a couple minor oil leaks... But mechanically the car starts, runs well, drives straight and stops correctly.

Apparently the car needs a 2-3 thousand to get it to your typical CF members level.

At $16,000 for a low mileage Z is a steal! I did a search on the Barrett Jackson site and all there Z's auctioned from 23-32K.

Thanks again Blackbelt for taking your time and your enthusiasm to preview this ZR1.

Default Cats...

I have a set of cats off a 1991. They have about 50k on them, $400.00 for both if you want them. Looks nice.

If you do some work yourself......I doubt the cost would be much over 15 hundred which includes New Injectors and changing all fluids (Engine Oil, Trans Oil, Differential Oil, Brake Fluid).
Check Clutch Fluid under ECM.

Only 25K miles......I would say do it......
If it does a bit over 100 in the quarter mile (soft shifts), the secondaries are working.
It is easy to set up a quarter mile within a few feet.
If only 85 in the quarter mile (soft shifts), the secondaries are not working.
a few minor oil leaks is usually a few oil pan bolts need re-tightening
If Amsoil 10W-40 oil in engine, Castrol 10W-60 in Trans, Mobile1 75W-90 in Differential Definitely do it

Might have only been built with the 'single transparent' top. SPID would let you know.

Blackbelt drove the car and said the secondaries do work and the car runs fine. He knows ZR1's well as he owns one. According to him, there are a few paint issues and minor rock chips behind the tires...

Just hate to see this car go to a dealer showroom then be flipped for a big profit.

It was my pleasure. Always fun driving a ZR-1 I took pics of mine and the white one together gotta post those. For the price the car was solid. I will stand by my estimate to get the car right...C4s like to nickel and dime you to death. It's a bunch of the little things that get you when you start really getting into the car.

If this goes for ~$16k, it’s a killer deal! Buy it...

That's a great deal at that price. If I hadn't just gotten my Steel Blue 91 last month, I'd be all over that.

This is why the owner is letting it go cheap. It failed the smog check 14 times in the last 3 years, lol. Kiss of death in Cali:

my guess it is a combination vacuum leak, bad injector, old cat that fails NOx if the engine is hot...the average smog guy won't understand all the LT5 nuances...unless the engine is bad, they will pass smog. still- this is what I'm saying- these cars always need some work.

While true, that’s a knock on Kalifornia not the car. None of this would be an issue if the state hadn’t lowered the NOx threshold. But then what 27 year old cars, no matter how low the mileage, don’t always need some work.

Apparently he claims the Cam Timing sensor and bad cat were the overall issue. First the cat then the Cam sensor. So does anybody know the requirements going forward would be in CA with all those fails? Does it always have to go to a referee check station? If you are illegal are you required to get CA smog checks??

Thanks!

As far as I know if it’s sold in California on a valid registration the seller is responsible for the smog,if the car is on a non-op I don’t believe so.

Sold...Sold...Sold $15,900
Where's the mystique?
1996 CE's and Grand Sports are selling for more??

Not trying to offend and I love the Z...but what a terrible investment.

If It was passing smog I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue. Your state sucks *** on the smog crap thats all I know.

Just like you dont know whats wrong neither do any of us.

Maybe it will leave cali for a better state that doesnt hate carsall based on LA smog.
