DELICIOUS
EDIT: I bet some of you are already aware of this car. To those, I apologize for posting that which is "well known to the community". It's possible however, that some have not seen it...Z community or otherwise. Either way....it's a damn sweet example of a C4 and should be seen/shared, IMO. I gleaned some pleasure from looking at it. Someone else may, too.
I wonder if I'd have done better just posting it on the General forums.

Oooooooo.Kay. Wow. Sorry I posted.
One thing you should understand: how some of you come across to "non Z" community. Damn.

Not sure what problem there is. I am glad the OP posted the the link. Yeah, we have seen the car before. And we saw it when the Camaro collector out east had it too. But it is nice to see it again...especially the quality photography. Let's just be happy it is in good hands and didn't end up with ridiculously oversized wheels slammed to the point of not seeing the tops of them, along with some detachable steering wheel and a host of other "upgrades", only to be sold after completion because they: a) can't afford the car they just messed up; b) are bored and can't wait to Michelangelo a new car; or c) cant drive their new creation because there knees can't work a clutch like they used to.

Far as "coming across to the "non Z community", BOTH the Z and non Z community (and the CS community too?) is enthusiastic about our rides. And, like the FORD vs. CHEVY vs. MOPAR rivalries we all sometimes let enthusiasm spill over at the expense of all other people's rides: human nature - nothing personal. (In fact, I've owned a base 95 C4. Loved it too!)
But! (and you know there was a "but" coming, didn't ya!), your sentiment goes both ways. For example, the C4 gatherings at the NCM are dominated by the Z and CS owners, yet less than 2% of the C4s built were Zs., and less than 1/2% of the total C4s were Grand Sports. However, there are between (approx) 90 to 120 ± Zs and dozens of CS' (more C6s of late tho) that show up, where less than a dozen standard C4s show up at the NCM gatherings. WTF? (Truthfully, I place a big chunk of blame on the NCM for that. The NCM does, IMO, a ****-poor job of promoting the annual C4 gatherings - leaving nearly ALL of the festivities up to our respective organizations to put on the events featured at the gatherings...but that's another topic.) What's more, the just completed Rocky Mountain Run was announced on this FORUM and not a single "non Z" showed up to participate...and y'all make up 98+% of the C4 community. Y'all were invited, including you, but none showed up but members of the "Z" community. Again, WTF???
Well, far as the Corvette Rocky Mountain Run goes, I hope some of the regular C4 members can shrug off whatever the deterrent was/is that keeps you from participating in some of these big C4 events and join in next year. Youz guys really missed out on one helluva event - twisty roads and spectacular views, and getting to experience the kind of driving your Corvettes were designed for! And, you missed the comradery and the crowds that came to oogle the cars and a chance to meet new friends as well. Besides....it isn't about the cars, it's about the PEOPLE!

So...I've been in the market for a ZR-1. I'm also in the market for a C4 Callaway Corvette. In my search for the perfect Callaway, I discovered the rare unicorn that is the CR-1. Once found, no ordinary Callaway would do. Now, if it's going to be a Callaway it has to be a CR-1. A couple of forum members own them, (I'm looking at you guys in Texas) but no one seems interested in selling theirs. Very frustrating.

Hi Paul, Thanks for replying and glad you like the pics. The pic of the Z's on the bridge are pretty awesome too....thanks for posting.
:Iagree: I think that you know that I have test driven several Z's....I've come close to being an owner but decided that it's not the car for me. However, I love that it exists and that other people have 'em, hence my post.
You're right about that. I actually thought about going. But it looked like too much time and compeated too heavily against the too many other interests that I have (Autocross, track days, waterskiing/Powell trips, Mtn biking, kids' activities....and so on. You're totally right about that...and I chose not to make it happen.

No one is casting doubt how tightly knit the ZR1 group is. No need to come off defensive or insecure.
its a great article....leave it at that. Thank him and move on.

I wish I would have had a chance to buy that car, Jeff, but unfortunately I didn't. Of all the cars I've owned, in the last 50yrs, my Callaway ZR-1 and 57 Nomad are the two I miss the very most. My only solace was, at least I did own them, if only for awhile.

I thought you were a little hard on the OP and said so. Done. Period. That is all. I appreciate the fact that he showed us the link.

I mentioned in his thread when this car was sold I missed my chance. I would’ve jumped all over that car if I’d had the chance! One beautiful machine!
