Default California Emissions Question

Was the 1990 ZR1 certified to meet Cal emissions standards? Thanks.

Yes, while all cars were equipped identically, cars sold in California received a separate California emissions certification. I don’t recall the RPO code. It’s somewhat irrelevant today. As long as the car has more than 7500 miles it can be brought into California without issue. It has been reported here that even cars with lower miles had been imported without issue. Getting it to pass California emissions could be problematic. California has actually tighten emissions requirements beyond what the car was initially certified for.

My car originally came from Georgia,I’m in California and didn’t have any issues getting it registered and the car didn’t quite 7500 miles. Don’t know if I got lucky with the DMV inspection or what but as stated the smog regulations are lower today than they were back in 2007,don’t know how the State can legally do that. My car at 6900 miles wouldn’t pass today in fact I e failed twice and had to take the car to a smog referee and the car is bone stock.

FWIW, my window sticker shows "California Emission System" as a $100.00 "option" on my 1990 ZR-1

Yes, an unfortunate choice of words. It’s simply an additional emissions test. There are no equipment changes to certify for California.
