Looking to buy 1990 ZR1
I would appreciate any input about purchasing a low mile (0-3000) ZR1....What am I looking towards problems from a 28 year old car that has not been driven?? How about cost? Over -Under 30K? Would like to be relatively "trouble free!"
Thanks

If you go into this expecting a “trouble free car” you will be disappointed. You may find a car that turns out to be trouble free and if you do, consider yourself lucky. This is not just because it’s a Z, this applies to any 28yr old car.
I’ll leave the cost issue for other to discuss. Suffice to say anywhere from $20k to $40k depending on year, color and condition.
Good luck.

There is a 90-91 for sale on the Z site with the miles your looking for and has been maintained and it’s not a common color combo. The early cars 90-92 have issues with the fuel injectors needing to be replaced. The cars are out there, you just need a o find the right one.

What's your goal? Do you want a Z your can trailer to car shows, or do you want to drive it?
If you want to drive it, I think you'd be better off finding one with low miles, say 20-30K. That way the PO has done some of the PM tasks and has also kept it in shape.
I would expect the 3K mile cars to go for $30k, while you can have a 30K mile car for $20K.
Good luck with your search!

I purchased a 90 Z about 18 months ago. All original with full docs for $19.5K. and 19K miles. I am happy with the deal. I have replaced battery and injectors. Rubbers are showing their age. After 28 years you must be prepared to spend a little to keep it in good condition... they are much like having a woman! But, the cost is small compared to the beauty of a Z C4. Anyway, it's only money!

For my birthday this July I bought myself a 91 ZR1 with 48K. At 38K it got the Haibeck 525 package and he said it was one of the best he's done. I looked at many cars most of them dogs unfortunately some with less miles. I figured either a low mile bone stock car or something that had been modified by the right person. I'm happy with my purchase and drove it to Corvettes at Carlisle this summer. The owner had driven it less than 10K since the mods and was selling cause his new home didn't have the space for it.
