ZR1 injectors
I have a 92 ZR1 with 18k miles that I've owned for less than 1 year. My Z runs great with no issues with fuel injectors. I use non ethanol premium fuel but I don't know if previous owner did the same. Everything I read on the forums say I need to replace injectors with FIC injectors before I have issues. Here's my question. I had an 85 corvette that I bought with 32k miles and sold it with 63k miles. I owned it for 4 years and used premium octane with ethanol and never had an issue with the stock injectors. Why are the ZR1 injectors more prone to have issues with ethanol than stock injectors on pre 93 non ZR1S? And will I be ok keeping my stock injectors as long as I use non ethanol gas?

Maybe this article by Marc Haibeck will help you to understand what is actually going on inside of the 90-92 ZR1 fuel injectors.

It’s not only ZR-1 fuel injectors, the L-98 cars from at least 1989 used the same injectors. Their are options for injectors,I put a set of Accels in my 91 years ago.

Jason, if your injectors are working fine, I'm not sure I see a reason to change them until they stop working.
Yes, if you are into PM, I'd do it, but there is (to me anyway) no reason to fix what ain't broken---yet.

I would agree with that philosophy "don't fix what ain't broke" too, and I generally do. But, there IS a mean time between failure (aka MTBF) for everything (parts). And, in the case of injectors, when the non-tolerant ones fail, the result is less fuel injected leading to a LEAN condition in that cylinder. In any case, a bad injector occupied the same cylinder that ALSO experienced a burnt valve. Just a coincidence? I don't think so... Pulling the head on a SBC is no big deal. But, it IS on an LT5. That's why I recommend changing the injectors on 90-92 LT5s "automatically" if they haven't been changed up to then. Just a suggestion!

When I purchased my 92 ZR-1 in CT it had 52,000 miles and ran great. Owner I purchased it from had it for 5 years and put 600 miles on her. When driving the Z home from CT to MD it started stumbling on the NJ turnpike. Thought maybe old gas.....nope injectors failing. Got back to MD on a wing and a prayer and went to our Wazoo maintenance days to change them out. Set a record, 7 dead injectors. It is not if but when!

Based on everyones input, it looks like I'll be replacing mine over the winter. My recent addition (91' w/ 9,600 miles on it) runs fine but my fathers 91' with 19K barely limps along off idle after draining the tank and replacing the filter following a 8 year sleep.
