This one gives me pause... The ad has some inconsistencies and leaves out some of the very cool things that are in the pictures.

Now.... if you can see this car in person and it checks out, this is a very good price.

Hello,

As mentioned above, he's a ZR1.net member, and there's a better explanation there on why the low price. I'd buy that car myself if I had extra garage space, it's a great deal.

It was on Ebay and I was watching it. The bid was over $9000.00 with a buy it now price of $12,000.00 . I thought it had a couple days left on it but when I just checked it said reserve not met. But 12 grand is awful cheap for a car with 70K on it.

That looks like “another” great deal, regardless if it has issues.

these cars are going for 30 to 50% less than they should be selling at. It’s really frustrating.....

Owners that have their cars sorted out, cleaned up, ready for pictures, documented and prepped for sale are
the ones getting “right” numbers for their cars. Putting up 2 pictures and not documenting them, you can’t
expect to get fair pricing.

Many are expecting great deals on cars because “i saw a ZR-1 for $11k.. Your car is priced too high”. WTF

Back in the 80’s, 427’s were being given away because of the gas crisis... Many were swapping motors for more
fuel efficient ones and now they are thru the roof.

ZR-1’s will get there soon.... Once restoration shops start restoring them and they hit the auction blocks... Collectors will start buying them and paying a fair price for them.

cheers

David

Mine has been pretty well fully restored at this point, problem is I don't intend on selling it for a long time. It does show that owners are at the point of willing & able to spend the money on the cars to restore them. At this point there's probably $30K-$40K of restoration services into the car between myself and the previous owner to bring it to better than new condition. I think I'm pretty much a perfect example of the type of owner/buyer that will start driving up value. I'm 48 now, in my peak earning years with disposable income to be able to do a resto, but am also getting to the point where I'm not as interested in just throwing money at a newer platform (C6/C7) just to go fast. I want something that's fun, but has nostalgia for me, and is a "pure" driving experience. I was 14 when the C4 came out, and late teens when the rumors of the ZR-1 started circulating. It was truly a world changer at the time, and is something that I've always wanted. Had one about 10 years ago and sold it, and regretted it ever since. This one will be staying with me for a long time to come, but will be a very nice, restored car for someone if I ever decide to sell it.

Since your in Ca, that car will not pass smog without the stock manifolds and cats re installed. Clearly not a CA car based on the license plate. Good price, but getting it registered might be a challenge if you can't get it thru smog

Was this a black 91? I seriously considered buying it, until I read it has deeper paint scratches and some clear failure. I know you can't expect perfect for $12k, but paint cost, you may as well buy a nice one to begin with.

I'm always following pricing trends on our cars...I purchased my 91 from a reputable dealer back in Nov of 14.....When it rolled off the trailer ( 4 hours late and at night and in the rain,it was spot on)...

Purchased mine stock and below 20K....Now 11K in modifications along with over 500 HP I'm thinking of selling next spring.....Looking to get into a C6Z06 or C7Z06,depends.....
Can't say I can factor in the mods but next car I purchase will be done by the previous owner...Turn key mods and all....Stock cars are nice....My Z was nice when it was stock but now, its a totally different car with all the modifications...

the $ spent on the cadre of ZR-1s I've had (4) has been money well spent.

DRM 450 black with red guts chrome wheels (cheap in the day at 23999)) bought it with 63k miles and folks though oh no a worn out vette
(did puke the diff richmond gears though)

LPE 475 All black, 32k miles, ran fantastic (but not enough zots) 40k

95 dunns heads, ultra smooth, pulled really well once I got headers/exh/chip nice car 34k

LPE LSV 390 (starting to cost me ;>
