1992 red/red ZR-1 sold for $17,500 at Mecum Dallas
A red/red 1992 ZR-1 with 23,286 miles just sold at Mecum in Dallas for $17,500. It was listed at no reserve. It looks to be in excellent condition.

The whole C4 crowd seems to be a buyers market, but remenber what goes down will go up. A lot were built on the C4 line but thats no excuse on the ZR1 low prices.Last week end at a show a ZR1 owner (1990) said 1990-1992 were at the stage of needing a lot of work like 16 fuel injectors at $40 each. Not every one. can do there own work and these Corvette shops charge surgeon prices. So with Opti etc needed these are dispensable cars.

The C4 was around for so long, and they made a ton of them. Just my 2 cents.

Heh, I'm up over $40K into my 100K mile 91 ZR-1, and wouldn't sell it even if someone offered me what I have in it. Of course, my car has been pretty much fully restored at this point (paint, interior, 391 engine, etc), and makes over 600HP. There's definitely still a lot of good deals on C4s right now, but I do believe we're going to start seeing some upward movement on price. I've noticed LT4 Collector Editions have gone up a little in the last few years, although they are still ridiculously cheap. For someone that doesn't really appreciate the ZR-1, it's probably hard to justify the price difference when you can buy a nice 96 LT4 CE for around $12K.

Mecum has had some very good prices (from a buyer’s perspective) on ZR1s the last few years. The main problem that I would have with buying from an auction in general is the inability to drive car prior to purchase.
I also think some sellers are not being realistic with the price they want for their Z. I get it, we all tend to think things that we own are worth more than they actually are. It also is a relatively small market for the 90-95 Z’s so true demand (people actually actively seeking to buy) is quite low.
I personally find the 90-95 Z’s to be the Corvette model I desire the most. Something about that LT5 and those sexy “hips”. I rarely go to any other forum section other than the C4 ZR1 section. But despite my desire and love for these Z’s I have yet to purchase one because despite the typical market value at the time of me buying a Vette I can get more (for me) bang for the buck with a newer Vette.
During this winter I will likely look for a clean driver 94-95 Z as if I do not get one soon if will never happen as I will just come up with more reasons why I should not spend X $’s on a 23+ year old car. I want a Z because I want one, I am not concerned with potential resale value because if I get one I will never sell it I am sure.

Have you looked at the prices of C-6 Z06's lately?
ZR-1 prices look stable compared to those.
Great time to buy the Z06!
Just keep the ZR-1 and buy the Z06.
You will have two dynamite cars!

ZR-1's and auctions do not go well together.
There are a number of possible reasons, but time and again, you see great ZR-1's selling for paltry prices when sold in that fashion.
Many cars do very well at auctions, but the C-4 ZR-1 is rarely one of them.
