Sounds familiar, took me a year.

THere has to be a buying group....demand. Without that doesnt matter how rare of nice your car is.

The buying group has either had or has one....younger people are buying 80s and 90s cars, no interest in a Corvette..
Even my 60s toy has no interest after having been listed for 2 yrs. Too much $, no creatire comforts. These are all dinosaurs.
STop wastomg your time worry about value, go drive the thing.

FWIW the auction magazine Sports Car Market just issued its 2019 Pocket Price Guide, The values it publishes are from auctions around the world, although it uses a median value concept rather than an average, which is not my cup of tea, statistically speaking. It is the value that is halfway between the high and low values, with no info on the statistical sample size. (Small sample sizes may help explain the Anniversary Values as well as why the much rarer 92, 93, 94 models are lower than the higher volume 90-91 cars). Still, they have used it consistently for several years so at least the values are comparable year to year. I have posted them in the past. Here are the values for C4 ZR-1s they show based on 2018 auction results. Also, FWIW, since enough time has passed, I can say that I sold my 32,000 mile 1995 #409 for $37,000 including takeoff parts, in early 2016. It was in excellent stock-appearing condition with a Haibeck 510 package and a couple of decent mods that were not too visible, like 4:10 gears, Hurst short shifter and electric cutouts. So while the market is different now three years later, it is not out of the question to get a strong value for your excellent condition car if you find the right buyer who appreciates what he or she is getting and plans to be a long time owner. But also note that I lost quite a bit of money at that price with those modifications, but I enjoyed the heck out of them while I had it and the buyer got a great deal in my opinion. It is pretty well established that you rarely, if ever, get back money spent on mods (I can attest to that over several cars) . These are the average price these cars are going for? There's a few 90 ZR-1' s crossing the block at mecum today at no reserve...I agree auctions are hit and miss because you have to have maybe three bidders to raise the value up...Yes,ZR-1's have a small audience....The normal buyer that just wants a vette will usually go for a newer year...

I’d leave it in bare fiberglass until I got sick of it and then I’d paint it. It would be like a baited hook to the barn find crowd,I can only imagine how many notes people would be leaving on the car.

Just saw a few ZR-1' s sold at Mecum Kissimee...Actually went online and saw the final price including buyers commission..

A 91 BLK/BLK I believe with less than 9,000 miles went for a little over 20 with buyers commision, so figure mid 18's.....

A 90 with less than 400 miles went for low 30's...An anniversary edition will cross blocks w a no reserve later on...

A 93 SVT Mustang with less than 10,000 miles had a bid goes on at $35,000.....86 Monte Carlo SS with low miles sold for mid 18's w buyers commision....

Moral of story? Unless the ZR-1 has super super low miles and is showroom its just not going to bring in the money.....Seems that other 80's 90's performance cars, if you want to call them that , are much more popular with the buying public...

A Grand National w low miles bid up to mid 40' s if I remember correctly....

Have seen Demons at other auctions later in the fall go for a little over 100K....Lot of disposable money thrown around at BJ.......

So I have been looking for my new C4 or C5 for the last 6 months. From my point of view you would be way off your price point, if you really wanted to sell it. Part of the Problem is there are alot of 2001-2004 low mileage Z06 cars out there for WAY LESS (Under 20K). Also, the Grand Sports with over 20K miles are moving now for less then 20K or so. Sorry to say but unless you are closer to 5000 miles, you wont see near 30K for your Z. I have seen 94-95 ZR1s with around 35K miles for 19-22 K

All that being said, each car is different. Its not so easy to determine an actual value sometimes. Yeah, I have seen 1995 ZR1s with 50 K Miles for 12K. SALVAGED or PARTS ONLY TITLE.

There may be grounds for someone to give you more then what others are going for because they would not have to immidietly dump another 5K in the engine for example.

So you have been looking for 6 months and you have not found anything yet?

If your coming across C5 Z06's with less than 20,000 miles for less than 20,000 dollars, I really don't think your going to get a better deal than that.....If I was in the market for a C5 Z06 and came across a nice example, underline nice example,of one with less than 20,000 miles for like 16-18 thousand ,I don't think I could do better....

The low mile C5 Z06's I have seen are low to mid 20's....

I know, 6 months seems like a long time, But I really am torn between C4 ZR1, Grand Sport and or just a nice C4 I can 383.
This will be my last Vette as I am 52 now and wife says no more after this, lol
so it would be a good thing to make sure I am spot on with this one.

Just bought my 35th anniversary edition c-4 and paid 4995 for it last september i offered the guy 1000 dollars less than he was asking and he said ok, didn't want to have to store it for the winter was his excuse. When He agreed to it my first question was does it have an engine lol went up test drove it mechanically car runs great but is in serious need of interior and exterior attention and care. but I love the car

You might need to stay on the C5 forums, where you can buy a car like your 98, for $8K. Just the wheels & tires on Jeff's ZR-1 cost almost that much.

your right... it has decals and stick on fender flares 😉. It's not comparable in any way to a zr1 imo
