My centers are painted, and I'm going to take them and have a wheel repair place paint the lip/barrels as well to make maintenance easier. Pretty sure the lip is bare aluminum by default, which takes work to clean up. Here's a post on cleaning bare CCW wheels from a buddy of mine:

Melting Slicks
Mothers Billet Aluminum Pollish. Also you need to use the best micro fiber cloth to apply and remove the polish.
Believe me I've tried using everything to apply and remove the polish. I called Schotts Wheels and they told me what they use.
