LPE Aerobody with LINGENFELTER imprinting on rear bumper, $3199
Hi all,
I've put this up for sale before. Thought I had a buyer, but he ended up not coming today.
Long story short, I've got nearly $4k in the body, and will take the first serious person at $3199. I'm looking for a quick sale as I no longer have a ZR1, but I'm not looking to give it away. This is one of (I'm fairly certain) 5 kits that have been produced which carry the late John Lingenfelter's name on the rear bumper. He was a legend in our time, and we'll certainly miss him.
I'd be happy to ship this via freight, it shouldn't be too expensive, or you can pick it up if you're near. It's all in one large box which would fit in a truck easily (maybe a large SUV/minivan).
Thanks,
Josh

I would assume no - not if you want it to still say lingenfelter. You'd have to cut a 3" section out of the middle of the rear bumper to make it fit - right through the middle of his name.

emailed it...
The easiest way to make it fit a C4 is to replace some of the other parts on your car with Zr1 specific parts...noteably, you'd need the doors and rear qtrs. I have a driver door I'd put in for another $200...
I suppose you could make it work w/o doing this, but I'm certain it would take a whole lot more time doing the body work. Besides, the rear qtrs can often be had for less than $500/pr.
Seriously, I would recommend a ZR1 owner do this, but if someone else wants it, I'll sell it to you anyway.

Re: LPE Aerobody with LINGENFELTER imprinting on rear bumper, $3199 (Jeffvette)
My question was, what would it take to turn the rear of my POS c4 into a zr1 rear? Are the doors actually different? I always thought that the body started getting wider after the doors...

Nope, doors are different, as are rear quarters, probably rockers , and maybe door jambs...and of course the obvious rear bumper.
Now, if you weren't doing this kit and wanted to copy into a zr1 rear, you'd also need the hatch with chmsl built in (3rd brake light)...

I'm almost tempted to buy it Josh just to have a spare box of parts. Let me know if Jeff doesn't buy it.

That box won't fit in the attic!
I've had to break down and pay for additional storage...even the garage is packed. I got married earlier this year and we've condensed our households into one. My house was 2300sf, and I had an apt when I met her (1200sf). Now, we're both in her 1900sf house. As soon as my house sells, we should be able to find another place though, so it'll work out...

Josh I think someone was looking for that set up on ZR1.net the list server I can post this over there if you like!
I cant remember for sure if he was looking for the LPE kit but the guy was looking for one maybe that was him that didnt show up!
and for tony for the wide body conversion you would need the doors, quarter panels, the rocker panels and the door extension the small peice of fiberglass between the door and rear quarter you need that as well, then of course the rear bumper then youll have a rearend like the ZR1

Re: LPE Aerobody with LINGENFELTER imprinting on rear bumper, $3199 (TONYDEE64)
Tony no problem let me put it to you like this, The last ZR1 Josh onwed was a roll over car that he parted out I bought most of the body parts off of him I ended up selling the rear quarters and the rear bumper to a guy for $600 each. I also sold him the rockers for $50 and the one good door ectension for $35
Now these rear bumpers are hard to come by so I probably should have kept it but there will be other wrecked ZR1's the rear hailo with the rear quarters is still availabel through GM but theres like 4 peices left!
anyway like you said its not worth the extra money!

I was originally interested in this kit until I found out the cost of fitting it! I wanted my ZR1 to look unique. At that price, it is very tempting, but then I would have to lose the 49th Street rockers. Nothing screams basbehind like one of these kits!

Well Dwight, it'll come a lott closer to fitting a Hyundi than it will your Lambretta motor scooter!!

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade here, but doesn't having the aerobody kit put on imply that the ZR-1 was a Lingenfelter car (i.e. that it had other work done to it [engine/suspension] as well)?
Another words, just as regular C-4 owner will put on ZR-1 badges to make it look like a ZR-1 to the unknowing general public (a Clone), isn't this kind of the same thing?
There is no offense implied here, but I know many ZR-1 owners bristle at cloned C-4's, so a cloned Lingerfelter is akin to that as well (assuming that Lingerfelter didn't just make an aerobody kit for show/looks without any other mods needed).
