ZR1. Best year and Color?

A 1990 as I like that front end much better than the later years. Blue, Dark Red or Black as thats my favorite colors. Modified as I enjoy going to the track. Prices for a modified car are real good if you can find a car that will suit your needs.

I like the 90 model the best cause its the only year with the front bumper, rub strip, and rims. Others will tell you to get a more refined later model with 405hp. Mods or Stock depends on what you want to do with the car. I personally don't like buying someone else's highly modified cars but others will say you "Save" money that way. I'd rather spend the $$ myself, and do the mods myself. In terms of color, I like the odd ball colors, Yellow, Polo Green, Admiral Blue etc etc.
Alot of the nice 90's are in the mid $20's so that would give you about $5,000 to play with mods. I really feel that the 1990 is your best bang for the buck!
If you had more money I would say get a oddball colored 95.

I also like the 1990 even though it does not have the 405 hp motor is is still just as fast as the the 405 because it's lighter then then newer ones.(some say even faster ) It's also the only one with the old front end. As for colors anything that is a factory color is fine. They all look nice.

My dream ZR-1, would be a `89 Dark Red Metallic w/ black interior. But that will never happen.
I also like the rare colors. For under $30k I would go with a `91. Either a Turquoise Metallic and saddle (to match my current Z-07) or Steel Blue Metallic with steel blue interior.
A `93 (non Ruby 40th) Torch Red with torch red interior (first year of that color and last year of the old seat style) would be cool to have.
Except for mufflers, I would leave it stock.

z-07 freak- the 91 is nice but I'm not a big fan of the "salad shooters" rims. I can say that because my 93 has the "turbine aka salad shooter rims"

I'm an odd-ball color fan, as well. Since you said 30K range that translates to 90-92 unless the miles are high and I prefer the 90 over the 91-92's. I'll go with:
The 90 Charcoal Z linked above
90 Steel Blue
90 Dark Red
90 Comp Yellow
90 Quasar
90 Turquoise
Also, I would keep the wheels stock - maybe polished. 5-spokes just don't look right to me on the 90's. No offense to anyone.

Please stop posting this, you are making me want to buy your car...and I'll be in Atlanta next month. That car looks great in the pics.
I would buy a charcoal metallic, or a dark red metallic. I would look for one that has some basic mods, like headers and exhaust, and do the engine mods myself. Happy hunting!

Asking what the best year and color ZR-1 is, is like asking which is better a blonde, brunet or a red head. Or asking what is the best beer. There is no one set answer, it's just what each person prefers.

How about classic Corvette RED?
Personally, I don't like black or blue interiors. They get super hot, and fry your a$$ in the sun! With our wimpy compressors and lightweight HVAC fans, dark interiors really take forever to cool down. While the red interior is pretty nice looking, I think the saddle and grey are probably top choice.
Also traditional colors are much easier to sell. Red, Black, White and Silver Corvettes will always move. Look around at how hard it is to sell the aqua and turquoise cars. You really need to find just the right buyer for a rare color, that's why those colors were rare in the first place.
I've got a Pontiac Vibe GT in silver, and I remember when I bought mine, their were several dealers taking $1000+ off of Vibe's in that hideous puce green color they had briefly. Mass market stuff may be more common, but it has a massive market!

P.S. I thought the "salad shooter" rims were '90 only. The 91-93's have "turbine" wheels right?
