Actually I did. It is a 1/4 thick laminate of foam and thin sheet lead sound insulation, and as I recall with a light adhesive on the back. I have not tried to remove it but I would guess it would come off easily. When Marc Haibeck was first starting out about 10 years about, I gave him my car to do a few things to. One of the things he did was installation of Dynamat under all the carpeted areas. While we were not able to document a significant drop in decibels with before and after sound meter tests, I know it is quieter than it had been before. A good product. I don't know where he got it, but I think it is available through Jegs, Summit and other companies like that. I would suggest contacting Marc to see if he remembers.

Thanks--I agree, it is a great car. I wish I didn't have to sell it. I know it will only go up in value from here. Story of my life when selling stocks....
These really are somewhat exclusive. In 1967, out of 22,940 Corvettes made, 9,707 were 427s; of those 3,754 or 16% were the now coveted 435 HP cars that can sell for more than $100,000 today. In 1993, ZR-1s were only 2% of production. At some point, people will figure this out. Anyway, I love it. Besdies being great fun, it is the most reliable car I have ever owned. And because it is relatively new, (A/C, cruise, etc.) you can drive it anywhere comfortably.--Bob

IMHO,
When mileage gets past the “keep for garage queen”, you are looking at a driver car. Which yours is awesome! But, the price is going to reflect a driver price. I was in the same situation with my 02 Z06 when I sold it.
Good Luck

First, as these very limited production 405 hp cars age, the difference between 40k and 70k miles becomes less important than the overall rarity, condition, documentation, originality, etc. in determining future values. GM made three times as many '67 427/435s than all 405 hp ZR-1s combined, and look where they are now.
Second, the durabilty and reliabilty of these cars has been well documented, with many still being driven regularly with more than 100,000 and even 200,000 miles.
Third, I have not seen that many 405s for sale as you have. (Perhaps there are other forums and listings that I don't know about.) I just went through the first seven pages of this forum's C-4s for sale section and found three, a 94 Admiral Blue with 60k miles at $29k, a 93 White/Red with 48k miles at $27k, and a 94 White/Red with 14k iles for $55k. (Please excuse me if I missed some).
Also I reviewed the ZR-1 listings on Cars.com the other day. Of the 23 total ZR-1s, there were five 405hp cars: two 93s (including mine), one 94 and two 95s. The other 93 had 18k miles for $37k, the 94 had 51k miles for $33k, the 2 95s were 6k miles for $45k and 25k miles for $39.5k. And there is also another Quasar 93 on the ZR1.net with 116k miles for $15k (needs some work it says).
So that is a long winded way of saying I have tried to price rationally given limited market data about the competition, but of course ultimately it comes down to whether I am able to sell the car at a price I find acceptable. I will let you know when I do. And again, thanks for your input. It is always a help when trying to sell a car like this.-Bob

I would also add that C4's in general are at the bottom of the price cycle but of course, there are exceptions for well-kept cars like yours.

I would also add that C4's in general are at the bottom of the price cycle. If someone wants a quick return on their money, then a C3 LT1 would be a better buy for the same money you're asking for yours. Yes, pristine ZR1's will be big at some unknown date far into the future, but my guess is that it will be a minimum of ten years before they start to go up a a lot. Remember, your car is only fourteen years old. It's not even an antique yet. And while your comparison with the 427/435 is valid, there's also the problem that a ZR1 is so unique that few people have the expertise or the tools to work on one properly. That's not the case with a 427/435.
Having said all that, yours (and it really is beautiful) is in the worst position. Not enough miles for you to have really gotten alll you could out of it and far too many to be sold as anything but a nice driver. Sorry, but sometimes life just isn't fair.

Rare color, 405hp, car is DRIVEN, serviced, and garaged. Problem he will have is all the LOW bids, and insults for offers (in my opinion). I WAS in his position and thank god I didn't cave. I will NOT sell my car, I will give it away before I consider selling it again (quote me please on this).

ehhhh.... You are somewhat true in your statement, but his car has been upgraded and treated like most ZR1's aren't. From all the attention his car has gotten from Marc H and the tasteful upgrades done, that car is worth the money TO the right buyer 100%.

And as David noted, it is a rare color and part of a very small number of very special vehicles. It has been well cared for. So the upshot is that someone will be getting a pretty fine deal on a car that is not only in great condition and set to be worth a lot in the near future, but is a hoot to drive and enjoy. And for the record I have had some serious interest in the car, although I know that selling a car like this always takes some time. I expect some lucky new owner will get it in time to show it off at Bloomington Gold in June. --Bob

Your car is worth the $ to the right person. You just have to find them and make the timing right. If you are willing to wait, I'd bet you don't have to come down much. I would take it to as many vette shows as possible to increase your exposure and to find someone who has to have it.

Bob,
You have one fine ZR1. I have been looking for a 93 ZR1 for a while, but will not be able to pull the trigger until about August 2007.
Just curious if this timing would fall within your schedule. I have found that most people want to off load their cars immediately and will not wait for someone in my position.
I sold my 97 6 spd coupe about a year ago and am now just about ready to jump back into the market again. I have had 15 corvettes over the past 35 years....... great hobby !!!!!
If you are in a hurry, I certainly understand and good luck with your sale.

I really don't know whether the car will be available in August, but it certainly might be. We may be moving to a smaller garage ...er, I mean house....before that, so it all depends to some degree on when I lose my garage space and what sort of interest I am seeing. If you want to talk about the car, please feel free to give me a call anytime. Maybe there is a way to work something out.--Bob
