Base 1989 Auto Convertible
Thank you in advance for reviewing my 1989 Convertible. This is an exceptionally clean 29 year old car. As far as I can tell, this is a base car with nothing special in the way of RPO's or any other features. Base seats, base suspension, etc. Will likely be beaten at the stop light races by a new Camry and such. Having said that, I don't know if there are a lot of 1989 Convertibles that are much cleaner and original than this one, but I suspect there may be if you look long enough. What's wrong with the car: Half the original Delco/Bose stereo is on the fritz and there are a couple of very minor blemishes on the interior and paint which can be seen in the photos. Everything else works as designed including the original, stock exhaust. To my knowledge, the only things that have been changed are: fuel injectors (by the PO, but I did not get receipts from him), new water pump and serpentine hose that I put on, new brakes that I put on. Tires are old and show dry rot and will need to be replaced but have plenty of good tread. I am third owner. Bought for my wife, but she is not interested and I can't keep it in the garage as my C3 lives there. Hate to part with such a clean car, but I have another headed to college as well...$11,500. I have also posted a couple of youtube videos where you can see the gauges work (they all do...), but I am not quite smart enough to figure out how to embed the videos. Go to "highlander1732" on youtube, and you will see them if interested.
Scratch near passenger top latch on body, about 2.5", can feel with fingernail
30,187 miles. I have CarFax and VIN check
Upper door pad is a little wonky near defrost vent.

Incredible value for the dollar!
Haha! - The $39,761 in 1989 is equivalent to $81,344 today! I am asking $11,500 which is the equivalent of $5,621 in 1989 dollars. If you buy it, you will be getting a 93% discount - chuckle...
I will put new tires on the car if anyone is interested, then it can be safely driven home with no concerns.

Bump please! I am happy to discuss a reduced price if anyone is seriously enough interested and will stand by my offer to get new tires as well. Please ask if you have any questions regarding this excellent cruiser/road tripper.

Mid-summer bump!
I know there are some folks looking for budget minded C4’s! This one is turn key with cold air. Fly in and drive it home on that epic road trip you always wanted to take👍

Drifting
If no takers soon, maybe you should get a "mechanic's" report to show what if anything needs repair. If used car sales in Maryland require a smog test, do that as well to show it can pass. These two things will better your selling chances, more than new tires IMO.

Good idea
Retroguy, that’s not a bad idea at all and I would certainly welcome a potential buyer’s third party or personal inspection. I would certainly be willing to work with a potential buyer regarding the aspect of a qualified inspection but given the huge variables in what a mechanic may charge for an unspecified “inspection”, that is something I think a buyer/seller should work on between themselves. For example, the MD state safety inspection checks to ensure there are no safety related issues but does not care if a car has a dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. Hopefully, most sellers will have some type of supporting documentation outlining repair and maintenance items which may have been addressed in the past (as I do). With regard to smog inspections, MD cars older than 20 years are exempt. I would assume (always dangerous) that a 1989 “50 state” car would do OK in the more stringent states if there are no “check engine” lights or similar running problems.
