SOLD!! 1996 Collector Edition LT4 Z51 Coupe
Contemplating selling this car as I simply dont have time to drive the car and so it sits in my garage under cover and on a battery tender. This car was a sort of bucket list car for me, I dont need to sell it, but I would like somebody to enjoy the car.
1996 Corvette Collector Edition
LT4
6 Speed
Z51 suspension
clear top(I believe blue tinted)
black interior
Somewhere around 41500 miles
I believe this is a 1 of ~80 car based on corvette action center. Its 1 of 751 based on CE/LT4/6 speed/black interior, then ~11% total production(1869 of 17167) had Z51 option, so possibly around 1 in 80... just a random guess. I know it was hard for me to find a Z51 car last year when I was looking.
Bought this car from the 2nd owner. He owned it 22 years. The last 10 years he owned it, the car had ~2k miles total put on it. The first owner was a GM executive who owned in for 1 year. The second owner(who I purchased it from) was a GM employee and bought it either from the executive directly or through a special program. I have full maintenance history from the 2nd owner. Have factory service manuals, window sticker, promotional material, VHS tape, original floor mats(currently has, I believe, Lloyds embroidered mats), etc.... Has a few accessories(LT4 DIC insert, antenna power switch not installed, static cling clear top shade, clear front license plate cover, door sill protectors, and probably a few other things). The car is a really nice example of a 96 Collector edition and is whole-ly unmolested outside of a very few safety related items I replaced(stainless brake lines). I tried to use factory-replacement AC Delco parts in all other areas.
When I bought the car I brought the maintenance items up to speed:
flushed the radiator fluid(was 18 year old fluid, complete drain by pulling knock sensors from block) with 25/75 Prestone Dexcool/Distilled water/Amsoil coolant boost
replaced 1 knock sensor with AC-Delco replacement(had to destroy it to get it out of the block)
replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses with AC Delco hoses
replaced the thermostat with a Stant 180 degree thermostat
replaced engine oil with Amsoil Signature 5w-30 and Amsoil filter
replaced transmission fluid with Amsoil Synchromesh MTF
replaced rear differential fluid with Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90/sliplock additive
8x NGK TR55 spark plugs
Installed DRM stainless brake lines, DRM brake proportioning spring, flushed system with Amsoil DOT3/4 fluid
flushed clutch fluid
new AC Delco fuel filter
new Trico 20-4 wiper blades(correct blade for this car, does not hit the hood)
mount and balance 4x Toyo R888R 275/40/17 tires(tires on the car were 22 years old). I also detailed the wheels while they were off the car.
replaced serpentine belt with Continental Elite belt
I believe the battery is from 2015 and is an AC Delco battery(I dont have the maintenance record with me right now). The rest of the car is basically from the factory. Original headlights(plastic and not crazed or yellow) work great(sequence up and down at the same time). Original exhaust. Factory plug wires and optispark. Original shocks. Original brakes(except the lines and fluid).
No oil leaks that I can see.
Has a K&N filter from the previous owner. I cleaned and oiled it.
Paint is a 9.5 out of 10. Has a few small rock chips on front bumper, hood, and lower rockers/doors. Sits under a cover in my garage and I know it sat under the cover in the previous owners garage.
Interior is also a 9.5 out of 10. Seats are in great shape. I treated them with Lexol leather cleaner and Nextzett Lederpfledge when I got the car.
Mechanically I believe the car is very sound for a 23 year old car. Doesnt make any odd noises to me. Trans has the typical ZF whine, but otherwise shifts great. Clutch grabs well, no signs of slippage. Parking brake holds firm. A/C blows cold, all modes work as they should.
The PKE may or may not work. I have 1 fob. It doesnt work. The system will go into programing mode(which tells me at least the module in the car is working). I didnt care to spend any money on trying to get the fobs fixed or replaced since the car, for me, was always a pleasure use car. I have both sets of original keys(2 ignition, 2 door).
Looking to get $16,000. Willing to help with delivery/transport of the car. Car is located just south of Dallas, TX.
I thought I had more pictures of the car, but I cant find any. I will get some more taken this week. I have a few from the original sales add last year and a few when I first got the car.

Bumping this up. Car was back burnered for almost the last year. Been driving my 19 Z06 and trying to sell my house which has taken up to much of my time and energy. Still dont NEED to sell this car, but after not driving it for almost a year it seems like a waste sitting in the garage.
Havent driven the car in almost a year due to cooling fans and A/C not working. Discovered it while getting the car inspected in June of 2019. Car sat in the garage all year and I just got it back from the shop. They couldnt duplicate the cooling fan issue and the car idles on the low speed fan after it comes up to temp. A/C got re-charged with dye to find the leak(havent found it yet, but will be taking it back in a few weeks for them to check it). With A/C recharged all is cold and good. IF a leak is found the offending part will be replaced, even AFTER the sale since I know its possibly an issue(will work out the logistics and $$$ with the new owner).

Thanks. I washed it yesterday and for a 24 year old car it sure cleans up well.
And just for full disclosure the rear hatch weatherstripping is split in the corners but otherwise in great shape. The rest of the weatherstripping also appears to be in great shape.

RJacobs,
As mentioned in my earlier posts on C3 & C4 forums I have loved these cars over the years and owned a few C4's and many C3's. This is one that I've always considered owning and almost purchased about 5 ago. You mentioned you would help with shipping/delivery arrangements. What experience and or process are you comfortable with selling your car to a long distance buyer ?

As far as transport, there are plenty of reputable car shippers out there(intercity, reliable, and a few others I am sure), that decision would be on you, but I would obviously help out where I could. NJ is a bit far for me to drive the car, I dont have that much time unfortunately. I would only really be able to drive the car about 600-700 miles realistically to then be able to get myself home from a major airport as thats really a 2 day process(driving and then flying home).

Bobby, don't bother with this Frostman guy... He's commenting on every C4 for sale... He's a newbie and is all over the place.
I can attest that this car is exactly as described. I personally know bobby and he is a "good guy".

FWIW... If he is truly interested, I picked up a 99 SS from a guy up near Chicago... Cost $650 to transport down here to Dallas.
I'm sure you'd do $14,350.... There you go Frostman.. Put your money where your mouth is...
Oh, welcome to CF...
