"Barney" 1995 ZR1 Dark Purple Metallic in Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction.
I consigned Barney to Barrett-Jackson. Supposed to go over sometime Friday evening, June 28. Check it out. Looking great. Tons of interest. Steve

High mile ZR-1 with mods done by somebody other than LPE or DRM, that’s where it should be. Nobody cares that it was owned by Hib, nobody knows about Automasters. Not sure why people were speculating this thing for bigger bucks. Took Hib forever to sell it with several price drops. It languished on CL forever for sale.

Higher Mileage Costs on Barrett Jackson
Nice ZR1. But most of the BJ folks love low mileage models. Seems many then become garage queens based on perceived future appreciation. Someone got a very fair deal and hopefully will enjoy driving it. I believe many of the older cars are going down in pricing too at the expense of speculators. The market will adjust accordingly, regardless of sellers wishes.
Young folks may not share the same interest or cash reserves as older buyers. Looks like some very attractive deals await those with cash and patience. Times are a changing. Love the C4 I currently own and pay little attention to its cash value today and in the future. Driving it is worth the price of depreciation.
Additional point to consider: Low mileage cars can be neglected and cost their buyers more after their purchase than higher mileage and well maintained examples. I choose to avoid low mileage cars after buying a super low mileage Trans Am many years ago. Once I bought it and started driving it many issues unexpectedly appeared. Lesson learned.

Car sold for what I thought it would sell for at the auction.
By the way plenty of people know who AutoMasters is.

Here is a short history lesson of who was actually building these engines in the late '90s.

Now is the time to steal a one owner ZR1 for these prices are a best buy! The new C8 will drop these prices to a even lower price. Lets face it a C4 is excellent car and a steal of a deal with todays low prices!

Interesting... I doubt that the C8 will have much of an affect on C4 prices, but I can see C6 and C7 owners taking an immediate hit.
I think C4 prices will remain flat (or maybe come down a touch more) as C5s continue to depreciate and join/compete with the C4 as the relative bargains of the Corvette family. However, I also think the C4s are on the cusp of transitioning from "older performance car" to "classic" status in peoples' minds and C4 buyers either (1) deliberately choose the C4 or (2) cannot afford or refuse to pay the higher prices of the more modern generations. I would recommend someone buy a C4 - including and ESPECIALLY a ZR-1 or Callaway - to drive and enjoy, but not as an investment.

Karl, who outside the ZR-1 community knows who Automasters, Jim Van Dorn and the Beagle are? Just because you bought Doug Johnson’s old car with its ties to Jim, I understand your value/sentiment/desire for it to be known. But if I go to a Mustang guy and ask him who John Lingenfelter or Jim Van Dorn, who do you think he is going to know.
