*updated add 11/27/10 to make easier to read and see updated info on one page. Also deleted a few posts to make thread shorter. Unable to change title. Dyno pulls were done after I started the thread. Thats the reason for the different horsepower numbers.*

Here is the cars story. I did not have this car built. The previous owner did. This car is no garage queen. When I bought the car it had no interior except for dash and race seats. This car was used as a track car and mostly as a track car. Hence the low miles. Preventative maintenance was performed after nearly every racing event that he drove it in. I've had the car a little over a year as a daily driver and haven't been able to go to the track yet. Nevertheless, during my ownership, no issues. Ever. The motor is solid. No leaks and no oil burning issues.
The interior is back in and looks great. I had to purchase a lot of it because the originals that came with the car were not in good shape except for the seats. Interior is a 6 out of 10.
The car is always garaged and the paint is in great shape except for the normal road wear rock chips in the usual places. Paint is a 7 out of 10
Now I want to be as truthful as I can and to do that I'm gonna say that it has a clean carfax, but I can tell from looking under the carpet in the trunk that he either hit a wall during an event or was rear ended at some point. The repair is crap at best but hidden under the carpet. Quote from GM to repair the tub area is $2500.00. I never had it done cause I wasn't in a rush to fix something that wasn't visible. The previous owner was not as upfront about it as I'm being here with you guys. Because of this issue the trunk area will leak in heavy rain.
Other issues include, the drivers door lock will not lock automatically, but it will unlock automatically with door lock switch in the car and key fob. Not sure if thats a mechanical problem or an electrical one.
A/C blows cold but not hard. In all a/c modes a lot of the air is coming through the front window defroster as opposed to the main vents. Not sure what that is due to.
Normal spirited driving temps run around 180 to 190. With a/c on that temp climbs to 225 to 230's. Found out this week that the radiator fans are not turning on when a/c is selected.
Drivers side headlight also got lazy this week. I will fix prior to sale.
Somehow, drivers side mirror had water leak into it and ruined the auto-dimming feature of the mirror. The water has been slowly drying out and you can still see through the mirror. *Update* 12/12/10 Looking for a new mirror. This will be fixed prior to sale.

Thanks, what goes around comes around right? I've been a member of this forum for a few years now and have a pretty good reputation. I'm just trying to keep it that way.

How Familiar are you with C5's? If I recall there was a setting in regards to how the door locks operated you could change in the DIC?
Also the fans, could be part of the tune not sure do they come on when the temp gets hot? Could be the coolant temperature switch. The clutch is certainly the weak spot in the drive line and road course and Auto X inst that terrible on the tranny it's drag racing that does a number.
It's been a couple years since I had my 99 so my memory is a bit fogy.

This is my 2nd C5, but I think your right about the door lock. I'm gonna try that when I get home. I'll look into the fan more as well. Thx. It doesn't seem to come though. In the dead of summer with the a/c on the car gets to 230ish and sits there in stop and go traffic. If you turn the a/c off the temp goes to 195ish in the same traffic. Now I've turned the a/c on in the drive way with the car warmed up and I thought that the fans were always programed ON with the a/c and that doesn't seem to happen. I could be wrong though. Regardless the car has never over heated. Not sure if I mentioned it in the ad, but the clutch is not stock. Tranny, and rear end are stock.
Thx
Thx
Good luck with the sale non the less. Wife says all the ills have to be paid before I can get another C5.

Yea, the air dam is there and functional. It's gonna be something small to fix I'm sure. Once you get your bills paid, come buy this one. It really is a heck of a car and to be honest, I don't know how people can drive the ones with more power than this. This is way more car than one needs for the street, that's for sure.

No liens and I'm the 2nd owner.
Carfax will show clean, but I've explained more in the first post.
Vin is in all the above places.
I'm not around the car until Sunday. Will post vin and rpo codes then.
This car is very unique, thanks. I'm shocked that it hasn't sold, especially at this price. I know I'm gonna regret selling her, I just know it. In 20 years these will be like gold....

Just thought I'd log in...i always am in these classifieds and this is one dang good looking car. I'd really like it, but it's just not the right time. Thinking of purchasing a home first. To make you feel worse, I'd pay cash.
Don't worry man, you'll get it sold.
