FS 1999 Torch Red FRC 75k $10,000
1999 Corvette Fixed Roof Coupe
Torch red, 6 spd manual transmission, 75000 miles
VIN 1G1YY12G6X5132830
Located in New Orleans, LA
Clear title in hand. Asking $10,000.
Exterior: 7 out of 10. Few small rock chips and imperfections on the nose, headlight covers, and side mirrors from 75k miles of driving. 1.5" crack in fiberglass by right front turn signal (see picture). Slight fading of windshield cowl plastic from sun. Never any accidents, body work, paint work. Hand washed regularly and waxed ~monthly. Clayed probably twice a year. Paint really looks great and definitely pops with a fresh wash and wax. Still get people asking me if it’s a new model on occasion.
Interior: 9 out of 10. Seats in great shape with no rips or bolster issues. Regularly cleaned and conditioned with Lexol leather products. Dash, carpets in great shape. Car has never been smoked in. Corvette logo Lloyd’s floor mats and trunk divider included. All switches, lights, etc. are fully functional.
Mechanical: Starts and runs perfectly. Steering and suspension are tight. No bumps, rattles, hiccups. No leaks. Brakes were recently done and work as they should. Transmission/clutch are completely solid. AC and all electricals work great with the exception of the Electronic Body/Brake Control Module. EBCM failed ~2 years ago and as far as I know there still is no fix for the 99’s though people are working on it. Used EBCM units are available on ebay or elsewhere for $1500-2000 but have the same design flaw as the current unit so I’ve been hesitant to spend for a replacement one when there’s a high likelihood of failure. Result is what I call “Viper mode”. ABS and traction control lights are on on the dash and systems are permanently switched off. My approach has been to keep a good set of tires on the car and just be aware that those driving nannies are not available. The current Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires are phenomenal and a big upgrade over the previous Toyo T1R’s, which were already quite good. Priced lower than a typical car in this condition to account for EBCM.
Car is largely stock with a few minor cosmetic/performance updates:
Skip shift eliminator
Dual cone cold air intake with K&N filters
z06 titanium exhaust - gives a little more guttural exhaust note than stock without being too loud or droning. Also lighter and way more durable than stock.
18” Ace Slick Hyperblack alloy rims
Hurst short throw shifter. Original stock shifter comes with the car
Front frame rail “fangs” to protect from any potential scraping
Recent service:
Brakes - rotors and pads at Corvette world Houston 2 yrs ago. Plenty of life left.
Michelin pilot super sport tires ~3000 miles ago
New OEM AC Delco radiator and thermostat ~3000 miles ago (old one was plugged with road debris and car was running a little hot. New radiator settled temp right back down even in standstill traffic with full AC in Louisiana summer)
Oil changes always done at 30% oil life remaining on trip computer with Mobil 1 5-30 synthetic
I have a folder of all service records and receipts for the car dating back to the first owner that will go with the car
History:
From what I know, first owner was a retired police officer on Long Island who only drove the car during summers.
Second owner was a Navy diesel mechanic in Virginia.
Third owner is me - purchased in fall of 2009 at 52,000 miles. Car was driven only in summer in NY and put in dry storage at the threat of first snow in the fall. Car is super clean underneath with absolutely no rust issues. I moved to Louisiana 3.5 yrs ago and have driven the car sparingly since - mostly for road trips as streets around New Orleans are pretty rough. This is the main reason for selling - I’m just not in a context anymore where I use the car regularly and driveway space is at a premium. This has been the most consistently reliable car I’ve owned and has never caused me any problems. I do not anticipate any service items in the near future though I would probably do plugs and a partial suspension refresh in the next few years based on mileage for preventative maintenance/upkeep if I kept it. No indications that it needs anything immediately. I would not hesitate to hop in and take it cross country as it sits.
Car will come with 3 volume set of Chevrolet 1999 corvette service manuals and 4 aluminum jacking pucks.
Really sorry to let this car go as it’s been an absolute tank for me and I still get a kick out of driving it every time I take it out. Problem is I just don’t take it out enough anymore and I don’t see that changing in the near future. Family is also expanding so road trip duties no longer fall to the 2-seater either.
PM for contact info or more pics.
Carfax also available via email for those interested.

Had 2 FRC's and loved them both. This is a steal.
Great write up op, this will not last the weekend.

Thanks for all of the interest guys. Trying to handle things fairly and give people opportunity in the order that inquiries came in. Will try to let everyone know where they are in the order through PM at the very least.

Get the most money you can. Let them make offers over what you're asking if it's that popular. It's all fair man.

Just wanted to say thanks to pmulcahy15! Stand up guy that kept his word.
I flew down to New Orleans from Chicago where Pat picked me up and drove her home over 1000mi after a couple detours in Tennessee/Kentucky
Heres a couple shots of her outside NCM.

i really hope my first corvette buying experience is something like this.
flying in, getting picked up and then road tripping it home sounds like a BLAST.
now only if that 03z that sold for 12 was EB.
