Have 2 tops, transparent and original black painted…transparent top has a bit of the faint ‘top hazing’ that is common to these things after a few years. Gotta look close to see it.
HUD was added back in 2005 with kit the Forum user PaceThis offered. As this was a late C5 build, all hardware/mounting points were already in car. Late build also meant that GM raided the outgoing Generation parts bin so the LS6 Intake manifold is present as well from factory which, really, is kinda irrelevant but if you were on the forums 14 years ago it was considered a nice bonus.
Car had a few of the ‘standard’ bolt-on’s for a C5:
Bob’s House of Wheels chrome Z06 reproduction wheels
LG Pro Long Tube Headers w/ catted X-Pipe
Callaway Honker CAI
GHL Bullet cat-back exhaust (remember when they were the darlings of the C5 exhaust world?)
Car was dyno-tuned after CAI/Header install back in 2005; tuned by Hutter Racing in Chardon, OH on Mustang Dyno

Overall, the car is in very nice shape for the mileage/years. Interior has no rips or tears, seats/seat bolsters in fine shape. As was popular back in the C5 days, car was always ensconced in multiple layers of Zaino, both the paint and the interior leather. Around 2016 I realized there were better ways to go and the car is now wearing 3 layers of Kamikaze glass coating after correcting the paint. Wheels are coated with Gyeon Rim, Tires done in TuffShine tire coating and interior leather is done with Gyeon Leather Shield, all applied about a year ago. Maintained with Kamikaze Overcoat monthly, the paint should be pretty well set (barring unforeseen incidents) for at least another 2 or 3 years, depending on usage. Link to coating application here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-kamikaze.html

With all the coatings, car stays very clean (within reason), especially being a black car. Easy, quick wash/rinse and good to go.

Car has led a fairly easy life, was my wife’s summer time toy for the most part so it hasn’t really been driven and abused by a hooligan. It did make a few passes down the quarter mile back in 2005 or so, 12.8 @ 112mph was best we squeezed outta it. In its life it has probably run down the ¼ mile 25 times at most, last being 2 or 3 runs in 2013. Of the 65k miles, I’d guess she has been behind the wheel for about 60k of them so, yeah…it’s been a girls car, more focused on looking good than going fast.

Paint is in really nice shape for its years; a few rock chips and general usage wear but nothing major. Has never been in an accident although it was in the shop in Summer 2013 after some wobbly sausage ****** put a scratch in the rocker panel door sill below the driver’s door with a Home Depot cart. Suppose I coulda touched it up myself but had a well-regarded shop around here fix it up as, well, my best intentions sometimes lead down the road to ruin…especially where paint cans are involved. Too many episodes in my life end in “Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time…” so I let the pros fix the scratch.

It’s a good, solid car for its age, been used gently for the most part, has never had a mechanical breakdown/issue and runs and sounds well to this day. Drivers door window regulator was replaced in Summer 2017 and it is starting to show some signs of the Climate Control dimming issue that seems to beset many C5’s as they age; more about that issue here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...splay-fix.html

Engine compartment could use a bit of cleanup, just a bit dusty and dirty. Callaway CAI filter probably has about 20k on it since last replacement. These filters can be cleaned but I always just replaced ‘em as needed to avoid any issues with over-oiling/MAF fouling. If you’re into that kinda thing, still have all the original OEM parts (exhaust, intake and such) and a big, fat file of all the records/receipts/original sticker, etc.

It’s time for it to go at this point as we’re gonna be moving up to a new C7 over the winter. While I could just wait and trade it in on the new one, figr’d I’d take a shot and offer it up here which would free up some garage space over the upcoming winter. With 3 cars and only a 2-car garage, I think it’s safe to say I’ll be the one parking outside this winter as, well, you know how that goes. Wife’s 2 cars will be warm and safe in garage come February while I’ll be outside scraping ice off my car at 4:30am before going to work because I’m just so very willing to suffer so she can be happier; it’s just easier that way, no? While I’d like to get rid of the Vette before the snow flies, it’s not essential but would certainly be nice to free up that indoor parking for me; getting old, getting slow and don’t like winter! My parents actually met in San Diego and then moved to Cleveland ON PURPOSE in the early 1960’s. Still haven’t been able to get a suitable explanation on that climactically poor relocation decision. Suffice it to say nobody suffers like I do.

Car was always stored from November thru April, oil changed and stabilizer added to fuel before storage then covered and not touched until Spring. Batter was replaced 2 years ago. To be honest, I don’t ever recall filling the windshield washer reservoir since we bought it so it’s quite possible still has some of that factory fill in it. All other fluids were flushed/replaced at regular intervals. Brake pads are the GM ceramics, probably another season or 2 on them. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP, purchased in Summer 2013.

I think that’s about it…not the most pristine C5 out there (I’m sure someone has one with 1500 miles parked in a garage somewhere) but I personally think it’s a very nice, honest car that hasn’t ever really given us a problem and at $14,500 it’s not a bad deal for either side, buyer or seller. Now I’m sure some will disagree and, if so, feel free to post your thoughts. It’s probably gonna be a slow weekend so I’ll be able to refute your ridiculous comments with snarky and exceptionally witty retorts (at least in my mind, anyway) at which point you will realize the error of your ways and come to fully support my position. And yes, I suppose I coulda found a nice, grassy location to take better pics but, well, I didn’t. If that’s a requirement for you, lemme know and I’ll drive it out on the nearest golf course I can find, snap a few more pics and then get out of there as fast I as I can before the car and I get hauled off to jail.

And no, no shovel's, rake's or other garage implements have ever fallen off the wall and landed on the car but that's probably just sheer luck though...

Thanks...Heaven knows it's got the best looking, best functioning protection I could find as an amateur, although just my opinion after now having tried 20+ different coatings. It's all so subjective that any and all opinions are valid, whether they agree with mine or not.

Fun stuff...kinda sad to see it go, lotsa fun over the past 14 years but it's time to move to C7. Wife's car, really, as was 2004; of the now 65k miles on C5, bet I drove it less than 10k of them. She's a Vette girl, that's for sure.

Nah, on the OEM parts. Mustangs parts will make me wreck pulling out of the parking lot, lol.

If I can pull together an E85 tune, we'll see what more she's got. Otherwise, it'll need to wait a few years until I can scratch up the scratch for an LSX454.
