1997 Corvette Coupe for sale
1G1YY22G2V5100007
V8 350
Manual 6 speed
45k Miles
Torch Red with Black Interior
Description:
THE EARLIEST EXAMPLE C5. FACTORY MULE/PILOT TEST CAR. 1 of 30 test cars made, 28 were destroyed, 2 saved. This is the earliest of the 2 survivors. After testing, and being driven by GM engineers, 007 was returned to the Bowling Green assembly plant and given a mild restoration. Getting new carpet, seats, door panels, hood, front fenders, tires and transmission it keeps its original engine. GM then donated to the Corvette Museum, where it was raffled off, proceeds going to the museum. The winning raffle ticket was drawn by Mrs Elfi Arkus- Duntov (wife of the late chief engineer.)
VIN 007 was the first C5 to have a window sticker. A sticker was made to put on the car when given to the Corvette Museum. Not long after the raffle, 007 was purchased by a Corvette enthusiast in Texas, who in turn sold it to noted GM collector, Bob Mcdorman, for more than 70k in March of 2000. It remained.in Mr. McDormans climate controlled collection until he brought it to Kissimmee Fl and sold it at the Mecum Auction in 2009 with 25k miles. I have been the owner since that auction in 2009.
The car has been driven another 20k miles the past ten years, always garage kept and covered and driven with care. Once in a while on the highway, I do air it out, but never for long periods. Synthetic oil changes, runs and looks great. No mechanical issues ever. After it sat in the collection I replaced the a/c condenser and both fuel filters, and air filter and belts. Also replaced passenger side window motor yrs ago. The side mirrors are locked in place in the open position. This is a great car and lots of fun to drive! Always gets a lot of attention.
Price: $30,000 Serious offers only
Location: West Palm Beach FL

What was the other one that survived?
I used to own 1G1YY22G7V5100018, so I know that one made it out.
