2003 Z06 Rear Mount Turbo Torch Red
UPDATED
This is a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette z06 torch red 50th anniversary, three owner car, with right around ~92k miles.
The first owner had the car, until sometime early 2016. The second owner then sold it me in October, 2016 with a full extended bumper to bumper warranty.
This car then had the engine rebuilt, with several other supporting modifications, as well as a custom rear-mount turbo setup about 2000 miles ago, by an engine builder at Honda Performance Development.
The modifications are as followed:
Engine:
Ls6 block and rotating assembly
-LS7 Camshaft (210°/230° 0.593 in./0.589 in LSA 120°)
- Gen 4 front cover
- Gen 4 camshaft position sensor
- Three bolt LS2 cam gear (ARP hardware)
- C5R Timing Chain
- Ls7 Ignition Coils/ New spark plugs and wires
- New Melling Oil Pump (Stock Spec)
- Full TSP Seals and Hardware Rebuild Kit
-Clevite Rod Bearings
-Clevite Main Bearings
-Durabond Coated Cam Bearings
Stock LS6 Head Castings
-Comp Trunion Upgrade
-Morel Street Series Link Bar Lifters
-Trickflow Chromoly Pushrods
- Comp Cams Beehive Valve Springs W/ Titanium Retainers
Turbo Components:
-Comp 78/79mm .96AR OILESS (Purchased used, with 0 miles on $800 rebuild and new billet compressor wheel)
- Treadstone 1300HP TRST9 Intercooler (Core Size, 25" X 9" X 3.5", 3” inlet/outlet, 1950 CFM)
-A&A branded Turbosmart Blow Off Valve (Purchased used, then fully rebuilt)
-Turbo Smart 50mm Progate Wastegate
- Hallman PRO-RX-BK Boost Controller
-K&N Filter (4” Inlet, 178mm Height) W/ Prefilter Screen
Fuel Components:
-Bosch 60lb injectors
-Walbro 450 (see cons)
Drivetrain/ Suspension:
-Bilstein Sport C5/C6 Shocks
- C6z Sway Bars (Used, then rebushed)
-LS7 Clutch
-C6z Shifter Assembly
Additional Components:
- Entire Car had Fat Mat Installed (From Footwells to Rear of Car)
- Rockford Fosgate Prime R1S4-10 R1 10-Inch Subwoofer (Installed flush in rear cubby. Subwoofer wire kit installed completely hidden until carpeting. Pac AOEM-VET1 keeps factory system and interface)
-Transmission Tunnel Heat Plate (eliminates common in-cabin heat issue)
The rear mount turbo kit was made with the components above, with these specs:
Exhaust:
-Stock manifolds(retain heat much better than long tubes)
-3” tubing from manifolds to rear of car, into t4 turbo flange.
-2.25” wastegate dump(ran car at 2lbs of boost no problem)
ENTIRE exhaust was painted with VHT then DOUBLE layer wrapped.
Every connection has a SS Vband.
Cold Side:
-4” turbo inlet
-2.5” aluminum tubing running to FMIC.
-3” FMIC outlet expanding to 4”(3.75”?) coupler into throttle body
The car has NEVER(not once) been tracked or auto-crossed.
When tuning(Speed density) it made ONE pull at 10Psi of boost(target boost) which ended up making 670WHP.
Immediately after the car was dropped to 3lbs of boost which made ~450Whp as a conservative street tune.
The oil was changed about 50 miles after breaking in the new rebuild, then once again, just a few hundred miles ago, with Mobil 1.
-The Airbag light is on for the drivers side and I have not investigated.
The Pros:.
-The car produces boost pressure under 2300rpm and makes full boost under 3500rpm.
- Drives like stock in stop and go traffic and gets great gas mileage (Stock or better).
- With insulation, and a good sound system, this car is incredibly quiet and docile while cruising.
-Comes with regulator and lines, many stock parts, extra maintenance parts(oil, brakes etc) and some extra z06 specific parts that I received with the car.
I am sure I am missing information and parts so let me know if you have any questions. I have receipts for all parts and services.
Last three pictures show the minor flaws in the bodywork.
This car is the 50th anniversary with Torch Red paint and a Black Leather interior with 10k in modifications and labor.
I am asking:
