I agree on the pricing. I thought STS kits were supposed to be the "affordable" alternate turbo systems. I was planning on buying one next year, but that was based on the original estimations of a $6-6.5k kit. What's the MSRP up to now, $7500? What will it be next year? I don't want to sound like bashing, but price is about half the equation of any system I consider buying. I still plan on buying a FI system by the end of next year (need to save the funds), so I guess I'm just wishing a nice kit would come along that could be considered the 'Golden' system. Decent performance (500 RWHP for stock engine), easy install and servicability, reliability, and decent price. Sorry, I guess I'm just venting because I really want to get into the FI game, and I would have loved to go turbo.

The ultimate future Corvette ... on the planning board for several years already. Some claim its run the N-Ring already ... and has a TT setup.

Whenever Hill has been asked if it exists ... he denys it.

Car is named after some GM vette engineers or head honchos at GM ... from Duke University ( with the Blue Devil mascot).

The name is also a jab at Ford and the GT40 program. If I can find, a well articulated write up, I will post it.

It is expensive dont get me wrong, but it is still more affordable that other kits because it includes everything you need and can be installed DIY if you are reasonably mechanically inclined. With other FI buildups their are hidden costs, like hoods with the maggie and KB and you need to worry bout pulleys and things like that. Their is a neat post on thie section about the benefits of turbo over supercharging.

I agree, to some degree turbos would be more benificial than a supercharger, but is it $2000 better in performance than say A&A's new Vortech kit? Lots of experience with FI and centrifugals gone into that kit. Dont really forsee any belt issues with it, no hood change and simple oiling. Has the oiling system for rear mount turbos been deemed bulitproof? Hate to loose two turbos. Again, I dont want to come across as putting down STS's kit or turbos. I think it might be the best 'turbo' system for the money if it does live up to the hype (still dont know how it will perform in real world performance...only dyno numbers[saw the 9sec Cartek, but that is alot more than just your off-the-shelf kit]), but I'm looking at the complete FI spectrum for best bang for the buck. Turbos would be awesome, but if you can buy a new clutch installed plus a few other goodies for the money save going to a supercharger, all while getting the same performance (for a stock bottem end car), it gets harder to justify that margin. Again, this is only my take on it, and I'm concerned about cost of the system alot, as my pockets are limited. I dont think I could drop $7500 in a year on this kit compared to cheaper systems, and even if I did have the $$, is the system better performance wise to justify the extra margin. I know this thread is about STS information, but price has been brought up, and I'm throwing it around a little to get a full perspective on it...
-Chris

P.S. Is STS ever going to look at doing a more cost friendly 'entry level' kit...that would be directed at stock bottom end cars only? I only need 525RWHP max for that application. How would the kit perform minus the extra intercooler? Just some thought.

obviously the vendors here are socking it to you guys. The kit was sold in a GP for under 6k. However, since the guy isnt a forum vendor, we all lose out on this deal. Gotta love how that works. So save a whopping 250 or 1500??

yea, I dont understand why the vette kit is 7500 bucks while most of their other kits are closer to 5000-5500 bucks. Obviously, twin turbos v. single turbo is going to add some expense, but 2000 dollars worht??

well its a given that the kit is way under 6k as there was a GP for 5995 removed from here.

Exactly. I remember threads from months ago where they figured a $6k retail was what was being anticipated. That is the reason I actually followed all the STS threads so closely. An affordable turbo system.

This is a good price. I wish I had the money now, and could get it for this price. But I have to wait about a year before I could do it, even at this price. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

This thread was launched 11 days ago with the premise that it would be informational and not commercial. Since then, 20-something posts have been removed because they violated Forum rules -- most of them in conflict with the rules on Commercial Posting..

The insistence by some on converting the thread to one promoting a non-supporting vendor has overwhelmed the efforts of moderators in trying to keep the thread on track and open for posting.

There are a several supporting vendors who sell the kit in question. If they want to post about it, they are welcome to. There are several non-supporting vendors who have expressed interest in becoming supporting vendors so they could use the Forum to market the kit. Perhaps they will follow through.

Meanwhile, it’s not fair to use bandwidth paid for by supporting vendors to promote non-supporting vendors.
