Default My car eats belts

I just got a new belt put on in November, December annd once again the front of the passanger side belt is wearing off and 1 rib is already gone. Anyone else have this problem or any fixes? They are all new idler pullies and the belt is very tight according to my mechanic. Im waiting on new jack shaft bearings but Id assume thats not causing this issue correct?

Sounds like your pulley aligment is off. Did your installer use a laser alignment tool?

I doubt it, he runs a race shop out of his rear garage. All he works on is LS-1s so he know what hes doing, i just doubt he hes a laser

Is that something only a dealer could do? And any idea of a price?

If one rib is getting chewed up it is definatly out of alignment somewhere ! You need to check the alignment of each pulley !

I would call Carolina Auto Masters as they are not far from you. They are a very reputable performance shop. The dealer will not be of any help to you. This is would be a simple fix just requiring proper shimming of the pulleys that do not line up

Sounds like an alignment problem. Buy a Gates Lazer alignment tool they are not that expensive and pretty easy to use.

Hope you get the problem figured out..
But I do know that Advance Auto parts has 1 year warranty on belts. They might have to order you two to start with, but you wont have to buy any more for a while....

I think im going to order the Gatorbacks this time from them. I just have to decide now if I wanna spend the $100 on the laser and hope i can figure it out, or just pay the stealer to fix it

Unless someone wants to let me borrow thier laser and ill pay shipping both ways?

Ended up having the dealer do it cause the supercharger has to come off for new belts. Any idea what I can expect to pay for the idler pulley alignment? I know its $200 for the new belt to be put on
