Any Kenne Bell guys running a SD tune?
I am having major problems with the "return to idle" part of my tune. My tuner has pretty much done all he knows how to do and its still not right. Can this be checked by sending someone a copy of the tune file? I know little about the tuning process so any advice would be welcome.
Thanks guys!

As you know Roger I am SD KB enabled.
Mine only had a problem on initial startup returning to idle and extremely slow movement (garage) but after the car was warm there were no issues.

Thanks guys.
Drew I am not sure why he can tune yours and not mine. I wonder if something could be wrong with my motor or something. Anyway, I need someone else to look at the problem because I guess Ed doesn't have the knoweldge to fix this problem. I sure hope you have better results with your build. I am out 7K and all I got was a car that runs like crap.

boost in the crankcase?? Are you forged? Broken ring land? Pull the oil fill cap and see how much blowby you have. You set up your PCV to keep your boost out of your crankcase right? SD won't respond to vacuum leaks like a MAF will, but if your blower is loose and you have certain cylinders leaking, it'll surely act up. Have you pulled your plugs and looked for trouble in individual cylinders?

Wow..... Mine was spewing a lot of oil into the catch can when the ringlands let go. I was also get some steam from the breather on it as well. Are you using the stock valve covers with baffles?

Hmm, I get steam from the breather as well. Yes stock valve covers. I am forged. Have not pulled the plugs yet.

Its not uncommon at al for steam to lightly huff from the valvecover breather if you are running a vented system. When the oil heats up, then cools, it creates condensation in the oil. When the oil comes up to temp, it will begin to steam off.
This is why you should AWAYS change your oil more ofter on a non PCV car. Because the longer you run it, the more water is mixed.
You'll notice that if you change your oil, that it should decrease for a short perid of time..
Shoot a PM over to Doug Stalter "EC_Tune" AKA: Dynamic Tuning Solutions. He's got a HUGE amount of SD tuning time on a KB car..
Is it on EFI Live or HPT?
If its an HPT file, email it to me..I've got a library full of KB SD tunes.. I can compare it.

I emailed EC_tune this afternoon and waiting to hear back from him. It is HPT and I will send it to you in a minute. I will try the valet mode on my way to work tomorrow.

Rogers doesnt smoke near like Andrews did. Andrews puffed rhythmically like a choo choo train. Rogers just has some smoke coming out at certain times. When vacuum is low, it smokes some, when vacuum is high, it goes away.
As for the oil in the catch can, I'm not sure if the valve cover baffles are removed or not.
As for the tune part, I thought it ran beautifully with the AC off. I've tuned many, many cars with much larger cams. It's just a matter of getting the RAF correct, along with the AC adaptive idle, then its a matter of fine tuning the cracker and follower tables. Rogers seems to need much more adaptive idle air for the AC. More than any other car I've tuned. Even 440 inch motors with 258* camshafts. Somethings not right.
PS, the catch can Roger is using is a little tiny air/water separator you get at lowes or home depot. Its not the larger catch thats purpose made for this application. So, the amount of oil thats actually ending up in the catch can isnt the same as if it was a real catch can. Its probably an once or so. And again, the baffles may have been removed.

Yes, it is a little catch can and an ounce or two is what I am getting but its the time frame, 8 miles or 10 minutes driving and its full. The major pain with my car is that we don't know what is causing the problem. Ed has tuned the car everyway he knows how so maybe its not a tune issue but something else.
Ed and I have come up with a solution to the problem that will get into motion next month. We are just going to build a 402 and redo everything. This way Ed will know everything that has been done to the motor, tune, everything.
I would still like to find out why I am having the problems I am having though. Ed and I have had the worst luck with this car. The only good thing is he has not damaged the body..... so far, haha

It doesnt necessarily mean its a pressure problem. It could be the way its plumbed, combined with the size of it.
There are many things that I'd like to redo, even if we/you dont decide to go with a new/bigger motor. The catch can plumbing for one. Alot of the wiring is another.
