You are quite right my friend. I had nothing today. But a little Griffs.
Thanks for the burger. I'll be looking forward to a good steak soon!

Default A little bling while waiting

I have been waiting on the oil cooler and it still hasn't come in, so I decided to spice up the back end of the car some. I also decided to go ahead and put it back together and just loop the output back until the cooler arrives.

I ground down the casting marks, sanded the grind marks out and worked my way to a fine enough grit to polish.

I did the entire back end of the cradle and the back of the control arms.

About 6 hours total. Better than laying around watching TV and getting fatter for sure.

Thanks!
You're dead on for the time. It would have taken less but I kept polishing it and finding a few deep scratches and going back with the D/A and then re-polishing.
I started with 35 grit on a 5" air grinder to cut the casting ridges out and then went to a 50 grit on a 8" disc, then to 80grit with a D/A then to 320, and 400. Then to red rouge and then to white.

About laying around and getting fatter. That's the whole reason I got back into the car hobby was to give me something to do that I enjoyed.

Amen brother!

I enjoy tinkering and working on it almost as much as I do driving it.

Me too. That's why I'm in no hurry to get it done. Between my vette and my bro's last (4) vettes, I've stayed busy in the garage.

Half the fun of owning the vette is wrenching on it.

Plus it's a lot harder to break the car when it's on jack stands.

I finally put the car back on the ground and gave it a good cleaning. I drove it a bit and can't believe how nicely it shifts. I quickly discovered that a rear alignment is going to be immediately necessary. When I would accelerate even mildly, the back end would pull to one side or the other as if I was on slicks. After the alignment, it's back on the road! I appreciate the support and encouragement from all of my forum friends.

Thanks Bruce. It has been a while eh? I thought about bringing it to the meet last night, but was concerned about the way it was driving as well as the attendance due to the holiday. Looking forward to meeting up with you soon.
