Default Self contained Vortec Supercharger oil

Josh--We had a little problem the other day at the shop. We could
not locate the small container of oil used in self contained
Vortec Superchargers. I have a tapped in the oil pan supercharger and I thought it was all right to use a 5-10-20 synthetic oil.
We finally found the little container of oil that came with the
self contained unit. But.... if we had not found it. What would
you do???????? Could we use any synthetic oil???
Thanks.

Just to be clear:

All V3 (self-contained) headunits require the Vortech V3 oil. It is some kind of synthetic oil they spec.

If you are using a (engine-oiled) headunit then it uses which ever oil your engine is using and can be regular or synthetic.

Josh----Ok, I got it. The self contained units (superchargers)
Have a different bearing than the engine oiled supercharger.
And the self contained unit needs a different blend oil.
Is that what you were conveying to me????
Thanks again, Josh. I am trying to make sure this is not a
marketing answer. (from Vortec)
Happy Thanksgiving.

Finally got my car's tune and fuel systems sorted.

Turns out with my cam and other mods, I needed an auxiliary fuel system, 100lb injectors, and the racetronix pump was bad as well, replaced it with a LG 255lph pump.

V3Si, on an old Mustang Dyno nicknamed "the heart breaker" it's at 551 at 6700 rpm, the tuner said that on a dynojet or dynapack it's a 625hp car easy depending on the correction factor, putting the engine at 650-700.

HP was still climbing at 6700 and we stopped as I'm on the stock short block, clearly I have the wrong cam in the car for a S/C application.

I guess a shortblock will be on my short list for the future. I hope to get a few 1/4 runs in at island for a baseline before they close.

Are any other modifications needed to swap to a 3.6 pulley from a 3.8 pulley other than an adjustment on my tune? I'm on the V3 kit with a boost-a-pump also.

Sounds like a great combo. Let us know if you get some seat time at the track and what mph it puts down.

Smaller pulley and smaller belt if on a C5 or C6. Then get tune checked again.

Hello

I am going to forge my stock short block. I am using a ti trim with a 3.4 pulley. What are some smaller pulley options to increase boost? Block is an ls6, stock cubes.

Thank you

We don't carry smaller than 3.4" in 6-rib since that is usually enough to put V3s near max impeller speed. But Vortech does offer more sizes below 3.4"

What about going with an 8 rib? Does that change options or is it that it is maxed out and producing max poet already?

It's a good idea to go 8-rib with 2nd drive combo when you start cranking the power up past 700rwhp or higher. If you are forged engine you will probably end up with a big Ysi headunit and that will need the bigger drive system. Then with a Ysi you will have enough blower to make up to 1,000 rwhp.

I have this same issue on a car that has had the V3 Si and 3.4 pulley for a few years now. I swapped the belt about 1.5ys ago and the problem went away, then came back about 6mo later. It squealed all this year until it warmed up. I swapped the belt again (belt looked fine), but this time it made no difference. Looks like I'll be calling in soon as well. Not sure how to narrow down which pulley is doing it as the sound is very tricky to isolate. Car is still putting down the 164mph 1/2 mile runs like clockwork, so the belt definitely doesn't appear to be slipping.

We don't have a drop in kit. Most guys will fab up something to fit a 4" pipe in there.

I bought one of your kits and I don't know if I'm putting together IKEA crap or a supercharger kit. YOUR INSTRUCTIONS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! for 5K THIS CRAP JUST SUCKS!!!!!!

#1 put the instruction in the box. Your customers spent 5k and having paper instructions really makes a difference.

#2 you need to do without the pictures and write this thing up correctly. I kept having to go back a step or two.

#3 make sure all the bolts and washers are in the kit. Mine was missing the bolts and washers to mount the intercooler. Not a big thing but for 5k it should have all this.

All I can say after speaking to Andy and his rude comments. I decided to buy A&A because all the stories about the other company’s setup and customer service. I can’t see the Other guys customers service be any worse than A&A’s. This guy is at his own level! He agrees that the instructions are not up to par. Hey it’s just a $5k kit. Lolol

Don’t worry about standing behind your product that you sell. I found another BAP locally. I’ll get with Kenny bell myself.
