Default A&A blower install complete, something does'nt sound right....

i just completed my blower install, however the headunit itself does not sound right to me? is this the way they are supposed to sound? it almost sounds like a "grinding".

all fluids have been checked. in the vid it may sound like the belt is slipping but it is not.
it has sounded like this the second i started it up for the first time.

details.
a&a v3 T trim 3.8 pulley
dallas performance flip drive 6 rib setup
alky meth kit
aem AFR
aem boost/fuel pressure gauges
the car IS NOT tuned. i have the stock injectors still installed. the car is getting tuned this friday where i will swap the stockers out for the 60lb'ers i have.
first vid. cold start. the car has been sitting for about 3 days without being started

second vid, engine warm.

That 2nd video doesn't sound good at all. The head unit is filled with oil right?

Most of the video sounds normal. I did hear some "different" grinding noises than what I've heard in the past at the end of the first video; 1:06 to 1:08 and 1:45 to 1:50. It is really hard to tell on a recording. I would try to find someone local with the same blower to compare it to. I would be concerned by the noise that I heard though. It might not be the SC it could be a pulley or bearing.

Hopefully some additional people will give there opinion. Does the oil in the SC look good?

I agree with the above posts about checking the oil. Doesn't sound too bad to me. When I worked for Vortech I got to hear all kinds of blowers. Some V2's and V3's are louder than others, some V1's are loud and some are REALLY loud. I've even heard a quiet YSi.

StealthFRC, I sent the videos to my buddy that works in the Vortech service department, just to be safe. I'll let you know what he says.

If the belt is to tight is sounds nasty, like it is literally grinding the bearing apart inside!

thanks. let me know

and i dont think the belt is to tight. a buddy of mine came over that has a charged z06 and thought the belt was to loose. honestly i think it is perfect. he is used to no flipdrive etc inwhich i have so...
i wish there were more charged vettes around me then maybe we could get this figured out!

i put my ear right up to the blower and it almost sounds like its coming from the compressor side. i took the filter off and looked at it and it looked perfect.

Just heard back from Vortech. They agree it sounds OK, it's just a little louder than most V2/V3's. If it keeps making that noise under load, or gets louder under load then something is wrong with it.

if i rev the car to say around 1200-1500rpm the noise stays constant from what i can gather. anything over those rpm's its hard to distinguish anything really... the engine bay gets pretty loud. im just just curious how i can hear this noise under load?

im going to take your guys word and run the car. if anything worsens i will certainly give you a call.
i appreciate all you help.

I'm no expert but it is a lot louder than the other 4 or 5 I've heard.

I agree with the others. That sounds like most Vortechs to me. Hell, my old S-trim was louder back in 1997.

Could some be confusing a T trim with and S trim. The T trim I heard was much louder than the S trim.

I read this link and it just came to mind. I see ya hadn't had a tune done and figured I would post it up. They make a point about idle being a bit low and SC gear lash. Just a thought.

Hope ya get squared away,

I had the same question with my P1SC. I was nervous until I started it up for my buddy who runs the same blower. I quote, "They all sound like that. Was the magnetic plug clean when you changed the oil? Yep? Then don't worry about it..."

From the above, looks like all the Vortech guys agree on their blowers.

Good luck with your tune!

Mine sounds like that too. Once I get above 1000 RPM it turns into a whine. I have had no issues for 8,000 miles and almost a year.
