Yes, I've seen several that had a 8-rib p/s pulley put on and the installer didn't get it lined up perfectly with the crank pulley and it caused belt squeal. I've also seen some of the aftermarket 8-rib p/s pulleys that I had to machine the back of the hub down so that the pulley could be pressed on deep enough to line up with the crank pulley.

Yes I did machine the inside of the pulley.

Best way! Looks good to me! Must be the belt itself. Contamination, or grime in the pullys. Look good to yall?

Tried the 3m grease remover, and cleaned the pullys as much as possible. May have helped a TINY bit, but hardly noticeable. So at this point, guess Ill just try a new belt. Aggravating as this belt is so new..

Yes. Hosed the belt down again with the 3m grease remover in conjunction with a metal brush while it was running. Then used a tablespoon of comet on the belt and it's been gone for a few months now. The comet seemed to help immediately. Haven't had to put any more on since then, and the squeak/squeal has not returned.

Edited the above post to basically say how well the comet worked. Was skeptical, but it seems to have fixed the issue.

just to clarify, where is the comet applied. On the inside or just poured on. Is it washed off once applied? I would think, the powdery comet would make a bit of a mess.

First I hit the belt with a little water via a spray bottle to determine if the noise was coming from the top or bottom of the belt. Mine was more than likely coming from contamination...and was from the bottom (ribed side). I simply started the car and very carefully tapped the spoon full of comet onto the nearest pulley. Was instantly quiet, and hasn't returned since. I was applied dry, and yes, it did make a small mess. But nothing that couldnt be cleaned up in just a minute or two.

Awesome! Mine has yet to come back as well. Very happy it was an easy fix, as changing the belt isnt much fun.

Very VERY interesting! So Comet huh....I would love to know the science behind this...What does the Comet have in it that renews the belt to prevent the squeal/squeak? Must be something cause brake cleaner and belt dressing don't work. hmmmmmmm

If this is in fact a cure....better email this to the makers of Comet. We have a new use for your product!

Mine started after I had it shipped here. My thoughts were that something in transit caused the issue. I tried brake cleaner and it didnt work.. My guess was that the contamination caused some glazing.. And the combination of the wax/grease remover with the abrasive of the comet cured it.

well the comet did fix mine for a while but the chirp did come back after a while. I think I have a alignment issue.

comet is just a bandaid to cover up the real problem. I put my car on the dyno and the chirp an squel came back and the belt finally came apart at 5k rpm. lol not cool.

Yes, the source of the issue needs to be found. In my case it was contamination/glazing, in which the comit cured my issue. Sounds like you have a different issue!
