Default Flip Drive AC belt slipping

I've checked everywhere on the forum and can't find an answer. I have a Flip Drive on my 03 corvette no problem with the blower belt but the AC belt slip's. The crank pulley is 10% over drive if that would make any difference? Ive put a new AC tensioner and change belts and haven't been able to solve my problem. Does anyone have any idea's to solve my problem.

My a/c belt only squals when I turn on The a/c. I have the flip drive too.
I understand ECS has a kit with a 6 rib a/c belt.
4 rib just can't carry the load of an a/c, p/s, and alternator.
You lose most of the 4 rib belt wrap on the balancer when u install the flip drive.
Blower side belt is great on the flop drive but accessory side is crap.

Did you clean the grooves in the pulleys good before you put the new belt on? Any oil leaks... I had mine squeal once and the belt swap fixed it.

Did you try running the car without the blower belt on to see if the squeal went away (Don't drive like that your water pump won't work). Its hard to tell which belt makes the noise...

I installed a studded style GM bellhousing bolt where the pulley bolts to the tensioner itself, and have a spring on the stud to my sc bracket bolt to give it extra tension. I have a billet alt and electric everything it made the difference.

All the pulley were cleaned before the AC belt was installed, the ac belt slips when the alternator is charging with out the AC being turned on. I was thinking a HD tensioner would help. What brand ac belt are you guys using and the parts number. I have an electric water pump so if I lose the 8 rib belt I will still be able to drive the car.

What's the lowest voltage you've seen with the slipping alternator ?

Alternator is only putting out 8-9 amp when belt is slipping, when the belt is not slipping its at 13.3 - 13.6 amps.

+1

I have a Gatorback 4 rib on mine and it has never squealed or slipped... Got about 2500 miles on it now..

My buddy's C6 with a Direct Drive does squeal when he turns the AC on for the first time of the day.. It's highly annoying..

Do you have the Goodyear number for the gator-back your using? I'll order one and give a try.

I swapped my tensioner pulley to a bigger one and made my own spacer.

My AC belt would squeal for the first 5-10 mins after startup with the flip-drive. I cleaned the pulley grooves and replaced the belt. No issues since.

I think it is the bracket not the block that is different. I have a C6 with no issues, But would like to have a little more wrap on the crank pulley. Been looking at using the C5 bracket or reclocking the C6 to add a little more wrap.

We make a full 6 rib drive kit for the C6's (6 rib to six rib) but I have not had any requests for one on a C5. On a C6 this DOES fix all the squeeks, altinator loss at WOT, etc etc.
