You need to figure out what happened first. On 9 lbs, the car should have lasted forever, even on stock internals. It sounds like to much detonation to me because to block the block. After that, if you want to go back with a stock motor, just get a pull out. Or get a used 5.3 block, have it machined and use your stock parts and replace the one piston.
Thats the cheapest.. then it goes up from there.

Plus 1 on the LQ9. Cheap block as for price and super strong!! It will add about 80 lbs to the front of your car but you can get half of that back by putting your battery in the trunk. However, you have a century setup hanging off there so I'm sure perfect weight distribution isn't at the top of your list.

I have not spent a $1 on my car this year except for gas and oil change!
I'm enjoying just driving it instead of F***ing with it all the time!
Also I am in the process of building a new house and the wife will slit my throat if I spend money on the TOY!

I liked the cost of iron block but i do not want anymore weight on nose of car added too much already lol, options are find Ls6 block or go ahead with ls2 which is probably what I will do after more research, few more cubes ect. Should be a cool setup

What are your long term power goals? The LS2 block is great but like other people said, it's a lot cheaper to go with an LQ9...the 80 LBS's isn't that much. Just relocate your battery...no big deal.

Get a stock LS1 block, forged internals and either ported 317 heads or ported 243's. I had Mike at MCP Competition build my setup. Cost effective and makes a boat load of power.
A LS2 swap is nice but frankly for the money the stock cube LS will make lots of power if you want.

I'm friends with OP and can definitely say he does NOT want to add anymore weight to the car. Especially the front. This is the guy that debated not doing an A&A because it would add weight. So iron block is out of the question and I agree with that. Not at liberty to say which direction he's chosen, but it's gonna be a beast!
