Default Any tips on getting those 2 18mm power steering line fitting from steering rack out?

Everything was going smooth untill I got to those 2 bastards and that's all I need to get it out. They are the ones that hold the power steering lines just under the steering rack.I got a flared wrench but I can tell it's starting to strip the ends on one the fittings the other won't budge. I hit it with wd-40 and nothing. I was thinking about soaking it in pb blaster then heating it up. I'm removing the radiator cradle anyways so I will have some room in there to get a breaker bar on. Just curious if anyone had any tips or tricks for those 2 guys? Thanks

That's what I have is a box wrench same as a flare wrench unless I'm getting my tools mistaken? I'm going at it sitting from insde the engine compartment. I didnt have much of a angle or enough room from the driver side. I'll see if I can move the rack some more.

Edit: it's flared

You don't need to move the rack you can get it from the wheel well easily. At least do the bottom one from the wheel well.

I like a crows foot line wrench. Then use a long extension with a wobble. Never had any issues removing them. Remember that they are sealed with an O-ring, Not a flare seal.

Also try a new wrench. They have a tendency to open up a bit and will strip a tight fitting. Worth a shot.

DO yourself self a favor and just cut the line off and use a socket.. chances are you are replacing the line anyways.. if you are just trying to pin the crank, you don't have to remove the rack, just put it up and tie it up... you would be glad you cut the line once you did. btw.. your welcome.. haha I quit trying to take those lines off a few times ago and haven't looked back since.

You can try tapping the head of the wrench with a small hammer to vibrate it at the same time this helps sometimes, go slow

Go in from the top. Reach your arm in behind the alternator. If your not using a snap-on quality line wrench throw it in the trash. Your better off using a regular wrench. I've done a couple dozen that way and never had a problem.

The lines into the rack?

I had a hell of a time with them as well, and I did not have a flared wrench. I think I went crescent wrench and then vise grips. I think I also had an aha moment when I tried to tighten it a little then loosen it. I only remember it being a real fight. but it was far harder for me to get the rack back into the passenger side bracket by myself.
