As I mentioned earlier, I was going to upgrade to a 8" to be able to use a larger blower pulley (for more wrap) but by my calculations, going from stock 7.5 to 8 would only change the pulley from a 3.1 to a 3.3, so not much more wrap
Balancer wrap should be the same because the belt would follow the same path with no real difference caused by .2 tenths of an inch on a pulley that's two ft away from it.
Check out Summitracing #c2501 balancer. It'd about $180 and It's SFI rated. I've been running mine for 3 years without any problems. It's an 8 rib but you can't use it for an 8 rib system as the belt runs on the 6 ribs that are closet to the radiator. My .02, Rod

I was thinking that since the diameter is greater that the belt should have more on the balancer going around a larger radius. Then to use say a 3.2 to do the same job as 3.0 seems like a decent upgrade imo.
I see your point. The Circumference is a little larger, so a "little" more contact area.
Just a matter of deciding if the extra grip offsets turning all of my accessories faster and he extra $$ for an oversize
Going from 7.5 to 8 in doesnt seem like alot but its more than you think. I got 4 psi when I upgraded. Some due to smaller dia and some do to crank pulley slip is my guess.
