Right... Plus 70lbs worth of roll bar, auto matic with SFI scatter shield, 3" DSS prop shaft/HD couplers, all the HD tranny stuff.. This crap is heavy..

I'm really surprised it was only 3600lbs.. I really don't believe it...

Last time I weighed it on the track's scales, it was 3535lbs, that was before the auto swap and before the roll bar..

So one of the scales is atleast 100lbs off... My guess is the truck scale is reading too light.

I estimate I've added 400lbs of weight to the stock z06 weight..

Iron block--100#s
Blower kit and fuel system stuff -- 100#s
Roll bar-- 70#s
Auto swap -- 100#s minimum.
Oil cooler/long -10 lines, tranny cooler/lines-- 30#s

This is 400lbs added. Only weight reduction is about 50lbs from the CCWs... So take a stock z06 (3140lbs) add 350lbs, 3500lbs... Then a 180lb driver.. 3680lbs... And I think that's a light guess.

Not making excuses.... Just stating facts. You can be happy with your under performing car... I can not.

But I will get it right, I assure you.

Maybe if you DID worry about some of the stuff I mentioned, your car would run like a 900hp auto car should...

I didn't mean to sound rude I just think your car is fast you should be proud. I hope you get the car to run the time , so we can learn from your experience then maybe I can get mine to do better too. Problem here is they won't let me run their too strict so I'm stuck with 9:31 and if they did let me run it all out I would brake parts so Im ok for now.

I can understand where your comming from after all you have invested in your car its really bad *** car.

If a car runs a 9.90, we all know it has a 9.80 in it.
A car that runs a 9.30 has a 9.20 in it.
You know how it goes!
If Alan would have run 8.99, he would be looking for 8.80!
Go get that 9.1 Alan!

When that car starts to MPH with his stout 1.3 60ft, it's gonna go faster than 9.1. I know Alan's been through a lot with the car and we texted last year for hours about running the 1320, so I'm guessing he's with holding his expectations a bit.

Nope.... A wash out. Only opportunity I MAY get is on Dec 6th... If I can't run it then, it wont be until mid January when the track re-opens..

Odds are, It will be after the first of the year before I get back to the track. Starting a turn around at work on Dec 2nd so...I'll likely be forced to work.

I want to test it atleast once more with it set on kill before I shut it down for a converter swap..

But I don't want to "make any more excuses" so........

Any updates? I'm curious what route you're going with on the converter.

I ordered a new converter from FTI. They sent it to me and the turbine hub was not cut well enough for the input shaft to go into. They immediately built me another one and shipped it out. I'll get it on Tuesday and start installing it next week.

The Coan was a billet 10". The FTI is a 9.5" billet... Supposed to be pretty tight up top so we'll see. I'll be able to tell with one street pass if its tighter or not.

Damn, that thing looks like it stayed above 5.8k the whole time. Something I can't do in the M6 RPR lets you slide with just a roll bar in that thing? They always got on me when I ran a measly 11.414

Car is finally running again. Had issues with fitment of the FTI converter. Apparently the 300m hardened input shaft is slightly oversize, not allowing the standard sized turbine hub to slide on it easily. Finally the 3rd converter from FTI fit. Unfortunately, this converter feels, acts, stalls exactly like the Coan did.. 20% slip at 120 mph, 11.5% slip at 145 mph... So it's still too loose. I'm going to run it on the 26th at the rental like this because I don't have time to change it.. After the rental, I'm pulling it all back apart and sending the converter back to have it tightened. I may even have them convert it to a triple disk so I can lock it wot...

At the rental, I'm expecting it to run like it did on the first trip out with the Coan... Good ET, crappy mph. I am gonna try to turn the power up tho and see if it drives thru the converter more. This crap sux...

Hell I'm just glad I can drive it now.

You have mastered stall swap on the ground. Imagine how fast you could do it on a lift !

I would have thought FTI could do better on setting it up right the first time? And very odd that the input shaft isn't built to spec.......
Of course it only takes one tiny burr that you can't see, esp with the trans in the car to mess that all up. And of course the issue could be either the turbine or the shaft.

From the photos, it looks like you took your pants off during the job.....ha!

Good luck Alan.

The rental is at RPR in Baytown on 1/26/14. It is put on by the. Texas Speed Syndicate... (Texas Invitational). It was only open to 30 cars and it has been full for a while. You can probably get on the stand by list tho as people always cancel. Its $300.
