Default C6 b&b fusion installed on my c5 z06

Most guys that do the tr6060 and diff swap have to modify the exhaust
at the rear. Mine was done like this, and I never really liked the sound, so I had this idea of cutting the well out , and installing 3" straight back to C6 3" cat backs. I must say that this was a little bit of a gamble , but after lots of measurements and discussion , I bought a used C6 Z06 B&B fusion here on the forum, the cans had small dents on the bottom, cheaper for me. Everything else is AMERICAN RACING.
The front 1/2 of "X" pipe is C5z06 c/w cats, and the cays where cut on the taper @ 3" , and some scrap 3" stainless was welded in to join the back 1/2 American racing C6 Z06 "X" pipe, which slip fits to the Fusions.
Here are some pics..............

A leftover [from my work] piece of 3/16" fiber board was epoxied in to fill the cut out, sound deadening was placed on top.

Exhaust mocked up

finish

I like it....Better flow and the NPP capability... Awesome work. Is it quite a bit louder inside the car due to placement?

I can't stand the design on the C5 mufflers...pain in the *** to install/remove, terrible flow from 180* bends etc etc..

Props to you for innovation.

Thanks !!
Unfortunately ,it is only about 10* F hear, and It was just trailered home last Friday.
My previous exh was GHL , and after it was modded, it droned and sounded terrible.
This is about 20% quieter with the valves closed, and a lot louder when open , but now has a deep, muscle-car sound.
Very easy to live with from inside, but I can not test drive until spring.
Wish I lived in Texas

nice, and after spending the past year in south dakota, i definitely miss TX!
i actually risked my life taking the car out today (-5*, slightly icy roads, summer tires, and expired license plates) because due to the October blizzard, i didn't really get a chance to pump the tires up for winter or change the oil & figured i should at least air up the tires before it got too far into the winter.

sure made me miss the weekly cruise nights in Abilene

i see what y'all mean about the flow of the c5 style. that's why i have the cutouts dumped behind the diff - right before the side bends. no chopping up my cubby (which i actually still use) and i usually ain't hitting it hard enough with the valves closed to make that big a difference.

looks awesome. can I see some shots of how you mounted the battery? very nice mod, I'm like you and hate the c5 exhaust routing and this looks very clean.

The Battery is sitting on a piece of plywood in the side well, this well is tapered , so the larger the size of wood, the higher it sits. Also , this is the larger size Battery , and is held in place by a piece of aluminum stock. Hope this helps .

I found that the stock battery was no up to the task of additional power draw form audio, fuel pumps, cooler pumps, so I put an additional 500amp battery in the back pocket and kept the front battery (500amp) in place. The smaller front battery allows for the intercooler reservoir to fit on top. Now with 1000 amps total there are no issues with the electrics. the ub12500 batteries are available online from just about everyone. I also replace the alternator with a newer 145 amp alternator.

Larry another nice mod, unique for sure. BTW buy the battery Box from Summitracing like this:
http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...1230/overview/

I already have 13 foot long battery cables and this is what i would like to do in mid summer'ish.

Also saw Auctiondepot's setup in person and really liked that too pretty slick, unique...two batteries connected in parallel.

Edit: powell did my C5 Z06 Ti catback modded, gotta love their titanium welding skills, they know the exhaust....lol.
