That heat exchanger/heat sink will sink heat from your exhaust and cook both your tranny and diff fluids.

Really? I guess I'd just heat wrap that area or something to keep it safer. I didn't think it could get that hot with a few inch air gap, etc?

It got my trans so hot after giving it a highway blast that it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear until it cooled down.

What if you were in like 4th or 5th gear during your highway blast, think it would've stuck in those gears

Yeah, you would've thunk it. Didn't happen until I stopped and put it in 1st. I pulled on the shifter as hard as I thought I could get away with, without breaking it and it would not come out of 1st, so I drove home 10 miles on the highway in 1st. I was happy to have a tall 1st gear that day. I ran it up to 6k, pushed the clutch in and coasted for a while. Kept doing that all the way home. With the engine off, it still wouldn't move. I got under the car to see if I could find anything remarkable and noticed how hot the transmission was. Once it cooled down, all was good. I removed that heat exchanger and it never happened again.

Did you also have a transmission cooler or just the diff to trans heat exchanger?

Exactly, typical 1000hp Vette owner that's scared to take it out of first.

That's why I have the A6, it's like Stephen Kings "Maximum Overdrive", you never know what's going to happen next and it shifts on its own.

Does this swap move the location of the wheels in the wheel well? Using a C6 cradle, C5 arms, LG coil overs. Or is that only with C6 control arms?

I believe that is only with C6 arms. My wheel location did not seem to change when I swapped in my 6060 with C5 arms.

Rick is the master of the gear boxes and does
it his own way.
You can use any good gasket material. I use ones like Yama-bond, Honda-bond, Permatex Ultra gray.
You can clean with whatever you like but don't leave any residues that can break down your new fluid.
I prefer to do a final clean using a light acid/water mixture, rinse thoroughly with water and dry.
