Default 383, TTIX Build

Now that I have some of the parts for my first LS build I figured I would make a build thread, some know me from the Ecotec world and my cobalt. But now is the time for a v8, I bought an 04 c5 with 22,500 miles on it with a blown ringland from a magi supercharger, car was my friends uncles. He had just had the trans built, RPM level 6 with 300 M shafts when the motor let go. I got it for a cheap price and bought a 383 rotating assembly and a used TTIX kit. Turbo kit has 6265 BB turbos.

Biggest issue I currently am having is the previous owner pulled the supercharger, car was inside but he washed it and a couple cylinders got water damage in them, taking the block to the machine shop this week to check it out and see if the block can be honed and cleaned up enough for my pistons since I bought them already.

Plans for the car is to run stock heads with ls6 intake making in the range of 800 whp on 93, meth will be added if needed. Car will see the strip a few times a year and be ran at some 1/2 mile events. Any suggestions from those that are deep in the LS world are greatly appreciated.

On to some pics

I do have a few questions for you guys. I have a concern with the converter in the car, it's a 2600 single disk precision industries. How should this last for me? Also what are you guys using for tuning? Keeping the maf or going sd.

HPTuners here. I went to 3bar SD so I could play with boost levels, otherwise once the MAF is maxed you're tuning by wideband at a fixed boost level.

Precision is a good converter, but will behave different with more power. Like it might slip at high rpm if you're pushing 800hp thru a converter setup for 500hp. You may end up sending it back for adjustment, but that one is pretty tight already. A single disk is ok if you just use lockup for cruising. A multi disk is nice for lockup when dyno tuning. When locked, it lugs the start of the pull and keeps from blowing the tires off. Have also made an occasional lockup at the track, but usually not needed.

I know you, I have been over here for awhile, just laid low most the time, was searching for a good decent price c6z but my friends uncle gave me a stupid low price so I decided to do this build instead.

Nothing wrong with a good c5. More money to build it.

I will have less in it then a stock c6 z06 haha. And it will be much quicker as long as I don't break it. What all is done with your ride?

You're right about that, too easy to make a c5 much faster than a c6z for the cost difference.
Stock engine and drivetrain. Home built twin turbo system. Look up the thread "twin turbo c5z".

Thanks, I'll be looking forward to how yours turns out. I know you're all about track times IIRC. You in Texas? I thought that 1/2 mile event was here.

I guess they sponsor 1/2 mile events in a few spots. I would like to go once myself.

Grats on the X kit.
I'd think through your fuel system before buying anything.
After several iterations and failed meth pumps if I were starting over I'd do an E85 setup.

Problem here, is there is two E85 pumps within 30 miles and that's it. And not very many more around the area outside that. I ran E85 in my cobalt and was a pain in the *** to get fuel.
