we are basically running the same setups haha this should be fun.
ly6 (l33 with a 58 tooth wheel)
317 heads
stage 2 boost cam
holley high ram
s475 til i upgrade to a billet 80 mm in the spring. figure i would get in some base numbers for the upgrade

I'm running 93 and M1 (100% meth) will be my 700-800 tuning. But at the end of summer imma see what it'll make. So I'm going to go e85 and meth. So if it'll make over 900-1000

I run e85. When I finally get to swapping in a tr6060, I'm plan to beat on this motor pretty hard.

do you all think the alum 5.3 or 4.8 block with a close to stock bore would life on corn and hold up at 900 at the tire.
I've been debated the iron vs alum and my machinest isn't too impressed with the alum blocks but I really hate to add the weight as my suspension is setup nice!!

I THINK all (or most) of the 5.3 AL blocks have the same sleeve OD as a AL 5.7 so it's really thick. Guys actually will bore a 5.3 to a 5.7 in some cases which is like .180" over. I can't see any other factory bore engine being stronger in the sleeve area except a iron 5.3 which can also be bored to 5.7. I love the idea of having a block with a lot of clean up room for the future, but I don't want the smaller displacement.

I would think it would. I also think the concern would be keeping the heads on, not really the block..
There are many LS1/6 blocks holding up to 900 at the wheels, and the 5.3 block has stronger sleeves.

Pushing water is my biggest concern on this build. I think that's far more likely than splitting a sleeve. The picture sucks, but you can see how thick they are.

Yup, you should see what some of the LS1Tech guys get out of these things. Open the ring gaps up some, slap them back together, put some decent head studs in and turn the boost up until they blow.
I saw an article where they got about 1000rwhp out of one and the turbos they were using ran out of steam. Engine was still fine... though that was on a dyno, not quite real world, but still..

Still waiting on the crank to come back from balancing so I've been meticulously cleaning everything.
Unfortunately they need to add some Mallory slugs to the crank and there wasn't any on hand.

yesterday someone went 8.22 at 160 with a stock bottom end 5.3 leaving off the line with 25# of boost. he i probably running upwards of 30# on a s475 but ya. there is a few 5.3 out there making north of 1000 wheel hp
