Default Hinson C5 Single Turbo Kit

I can't find a lot of info on this kit. Is anybody using it, and if so, do you like it? Just looking for some feedback. I would really like to go single turbo on my C5.

I have one, probably the only running one from I've found. Info is rare/non existent , so I'm doing it for science. started tuning yesterday, made 455whp/520tq @3750 rpm @7psi. I'll take her all the way after I figure out my misfire.

Ive got one here in the garage. Had to buy it in steps pretty much. Found the hot side/cold side piping with a big front mount setup, wastegate and bov, then a turbonetics TC78, and a ungodly amount of AN fittings and hoses lol, canton coolant reservoir, Lots of little stuff to get it up and going when you buy it this way but on mock up it looks amazing. Should be a fun little street car setup.
I found a TT setup i want so if you want a hinson kit lol, i think i know a guy with one haha.

I wonder why they never caught on? A big single on these cars would make for a pretty crazy ride. Everybody wants twins though I guess. I was excited when they introduced it, then I sold my car. Now that I'm back in a Corvette it's about where I left off. You can only buy the hot/cold side on their site also. No complete kit.

It was never marketed correctly, and was never really the complete Kit that customers wanted. Seems Hinson had plans to make it better, then got distracted by other projects it looks like, also feedback on the kit is near non existent, which discourages buyers.

so the competition such as UPP twin turbo kit, all they have to do, and give feedback, and customer support, and take all of Hinsons market.
hell, they even have videos on youtube about how to install it.

all said and done, and blindly taking the plunge with this Hinson kit, I currently like everything about it and think I found the perfect street recipe for a stock motor car.

I'm still tuning but making progress

I had one and tried to put it on. You essentially have to fab so many things that I gave up and went big spray. If you want a turbo kit for your c5 I strongly suggest custom or UPP.

The local C5Z here did a rear mount custom, wrapped correctly, with correctly sized turbo/piping and was making 800+whp with GREAT spool up on a stock 5.3.

Twins are more popular on the C5 given the shortage of room under the hood.

yea, twins are much easier to package under the hood of a C5 than a single large turbo.....

will be street tuned from here on. it's pretty fun to drive, it quieter, perfect powerband, and makes great noises
I am going to vent the hood though, have to do some heat management for my liking.

Can you still order the Hinson Hot Side parts? I wasn't sure because it's sort of old.

I've have a built 5.3L for 1000hp that Ive been running an ECS blower on but I have belt issues and im sick of it. I like this Hinson kit because you can basically use the charge pipes and intercooler from the supercharger kit.

Love the build man. that's exactly what I want!

I might've missed it, but what turbo are you running? Turbonetics 62mm?
